what is the easiest way to remove the brim from the printed part?

A deburring too works well for parts with long easily accessible edges. Otherwise, I just run my fingernail along the edge to peel it off.

Yep, that's basically it. If you bend the brim back and forth it'll eventually release from the object cleanly on the layer line. Or you can cut it off with a deburring tool or xacto knife.
