Recommend you don't get the Prusament refill

I order a bunch of rolls of the new Prusament PLA Galaxy Black. They packaged them loosely inside two boxes with some crumpled paper. The boxes are really thin, not suitable for shipping, and they were quite destroyed and "re-packaged" by DHL. Most of the rolls are punctured so no longer vacuum sealed (note they do not use internal boxes like on normal rolls so they can save money for shipping). And the ones where the vacuum seal was lost the filament has shifted off the paper core a little so it's not going to be easy to put the ends on without it getting all tangled or jammed up. This is not the first time I have had this complaint with filament purchases - they often arrive in really bad shape. I have emailed them about it, and their response is always that they use standard boxes and 'never have a problem'. What sucks is that I paid USD73 for shipping, which is the same as for the regular rolls, so they're apparently not forwarding the cost savings onto the customer.

Also, the winding on the refills is not nearly as neat as on the regular rolls. I will most definitely not be purchasing the refills again.

By the look of it your primary complaint is with DHL; they'v been playing football with your parcels.  Did you attach these pictures to your email?

Note that this is a user forum and Prusa are unlikely to see these pictures here.

Cheerio,

I cannot really fault DHL. Just basic handling on and off trucks, aircraft, etc. is enough to damage these thin boxes. They took the time to try to fix one of the packages with their tape. I have had people at Prusa respond to forum posts in the past, and have had very little success with getting them to respond via email other than "we will pass this info on to the packing people".

Don't let DHL off the hook.  No matter what they say, that's rough handling.

I wouldn't call that all DHL's fault - yes its rough handling, but the packaging, and the internal packaging, should be more than adequate enough to protect the contents in the first instance.

RE:

Living in a very humid environment, I'd be really, really upset if I paid 73$ for shipping and my plastic was punctured. To the point where I'd consider the filament damaged and eligible for return. Absolutely should be a stong box that holds the filament well. The filament should also be boxed for international shipping. Everybox I get from Amazon has one strong, outer box and individually boxed inside. If Prusa thinks it is a DHL fault, they (PRUSA) should go against DHL for the cost of the box and reship the shipment. At that cost there is insurance for damage. That is damage.. but the shipper has to do the work claiming the damage. If people forced Prusa to do this enough time, I guarantee they'd be using better packaging. The receiver of a shipment can't make a claim against DHL.. it is PRUSA that is letting DHL off the hook.
