Can you be more specific as to what you mean by "large"?

Re: Buying a 3D printer, but which one?
yes 60-70 centimeter for each side.
Thanks for the help.
Re: Buying a 3D printer, but which one?
60 - 70 cm huge ! Perhaps made by your-self.
Or you don't want to begin with a little ?
And your knowledge about imp3D ?
And what kind of object to print ?
Re: Buying a 3D printer, but which one?
For this size, you should look for a hangprinter.

i need a large printer for some projects
now i have a tiny printer, so i have some Experience.
Re: Buying a 3D printer, but which one?
60-70cm is not consumer size printer anymore.
If you need it only for couple projects, I suggest to let it print instead. I'm pretty sure it will be cheaper then buying/building your own.

If you need a large 3D printer of those sizes I can suggest either 3D Systems Fabpro 1000 (62 x 62 x 101 cm) or Formlabs Form 3 (56 x 60 x 110). However it depends on the use and what you need to print, there are 3D printer for Jewelry, Dental, Product Design and so on.

These folks are my go to Prusa supplier in Canada. I love the filaments they stock too and service. I’ve built 2 3+ kits from them. They just sold out of built Prusa in stock and I had to order my most recent kit from Prusa direct.
i ordered some Prusament ASA only 850 on a roll to put it up against Polymaker ASA 1 kilo. Love them both. I’m switching my black blue and red over too Prusa and staying with Polymaker with white and their new yellow.
One of the reasons being Polymaker ship me 3k rolls of white now on cardboard spool
Prusa has a 3kilo roll of PLA I saw but I mainly use TPU and ASA
sometime in 2018-19 Hanse Yachts 3D printed a 38’ Yacht They used a combination of 3D printing and surfacing with a C&C machine much like our little printers polish. There is a distinct possibility all boats will be printed in the not to distant future. Vacuum bagging wastes massive material, hand- laid presents the possibility of flaws and inconsistent layers large scale printers can fuse Vinylester a layer of CF and complete long strand connections.
RE: Re: Buying a 3D printer, but which one?
LOL, that's quite the printer.
1000mm x 1500mm x 700mm will really put the XL (or the S5) to shame. 😉
RE: Re: Buying a 3D printer, but which one?
Someone tried to print with a larger printer? Thinking about getting one, will the regular 1.75mm filament I use from https://dwdev.se/ work or do I need something bigger in diameter?
RE: Re: Buying a 3D printer, but which one?
depends upon which machine you buy
it's more a case of 1kg, 2kg, 3kg, 5kg rolls of filament
bigger printers can eat more filament in a printjob...

RE: Re: Buying a 3D printer, but which one?
Already the XL is more in the territory of 2 kg spools as stock size than 1 kg. Otherwise you'll need to swap all the time in between or use more than one toolhead.
And the XL is tiny compared to 600mm3.
The cheapest option for a huge size printer is probably the Elegoo Orange Storm Giga, when it is released. It is almost comically cheap for its size but it is also far from guaranteed that it will actually perform well. It looks to me as if they cut every possible corner to bring the price down. As it is also an open printer, warping will be an enourmous problem at such gigantic prints. For such big print sizes you really want a rock solid frame and a proper enclosure, actively heated to at least 60°C. That will come at industrial costs.
If you don't want to use such a printer regularily, simply order your print from a contract manufacturer. There are many out there which do indivdual custom prints, they'll be a lot cheaper than if you buy such an expensive machine yourself.

RE: Re: Buying a 3D printer, but which one?
yes 60-70 centimeter for each side.
Once you get to those sizes you need to start looking at pellet extruders rather than filament extruders. And that's just the beginning. It's like dominoes every problem you solve creates two more problems. I did see some vendors have announced gigantic-format printers but I'm skeptical. I think they will be disappointing.
Dr D-Flo over on youtube has built an actual gigantic-format printer. It's big enough to print furniture. He discusses many of the design issues and problems he had to solve. It's pure nightmare fuel. His videos are full of insights but I suspect his videos only skims the surface of all the problems he had to solve.
