Prusa resale prices
As I am looking to sell my lightly used Core One, I notice that the prices are lower than I would have expected. Based on online classified ads in Germany, 950€ seems to be the current consensus on the asking price for a Core One (or Core One+). The offered printers are often significantly less than a year old, and often include some accessories: extra build plates, camera...
If you figure in a bit of bargaining for the actual sales price, that amounts to less than 2/3 of the purchase price, after less than a year of use. Has that been common for Prusa printers, or is the Core One faring particularly badly in this respect?
RE:
I would imagine thats about right.
I think what you will see is that 1/3 hit is just because it's not new, I doubt the decrease will be linear, and will likely hold at around that price for a few years. We might even see that initial hit decrease with the introduction of an INDX upgrade and the increases in new price for C1L etc.
It's like with new cars, you basically lose around 15-20% just by driving it out of the dealership.
Long story short, selling after around 1 year is likely to be the worst time to sell financially 😂
RE: Prusa resale prices
My rule of thumb for most things is about 50% unless it's like-new and has barely been used. Naturally, everybody starts out asking more.
RE: Prusa resale prices
I agree that for a typical consumer product a 30..40% discount from new is to be expected. Was hoping that the Prusa printers would hold up a bit better...
And I was surprised to find that there are significantly more Core Ones on offer than Bambu H2D, P2S or P1S, and that the asking prices for the Bambus are a higher percentage of the sales price of new printers. No long-term data though, just a snapshot of the current offers in Germany.
RE: Prusa resale prices
In Poland the second hand market for 'Prusa Core One' is almost non-existent, there are about 3 different sales on three different sale platforms, the price is also around 60% of the original price. Yet there is a massive amount of Mini (or mini (clones) or MK3, MK4 second hand available (about 83 in ine service).
In comparison there are about 23 different used Bambu printers on one single selling platform, but cannot say anything about the price.
Generally this is interesting because we got two mian selling platforms:
- allegro.pl where you see mostly companies selling stuff
- olx.pl - vastly second hand market ( people moved over tome from allegro because it takes less processing fees)
So looking at the data above I got a very rough estimation ( I xan be totally wrong here) that:
- prusa second hand market is mainly from individuals
- bambu is a second hand market from companies with print farms.
People in my country really look at the product price first.

RE: Prusa resale prices
The reason the used prices seem low is because you are looking at it from the point of view of an owner who (I assume) has maintained it properly and not abused it. The purchaser of used equipment not only needs to realize a discount over the new price (else they would just buy a new one), AND there needs to be an additional discount built into the selling price to account for uncertainty. The buyer has no way of knowing what the printer has been through, what abuse (if any) it may have been subjected to, whether it was just a lemon you are looking to unload, etc. and will be looking for the price to reflect that uncertainty. At least, absent some other factor such as scarcity or collector value, which doesn't apply here.

About 1100-1300 in the US. That is on par with a Euro price.
