Pruša Basic Filament unusable
Aloha, I ordered some Prusamint filament last month and one of the reels was marked "Basic Filament" Turquoise blue PET-G. So thinking it was equivalent to Prusamint which I normally use without any problems I opened the brand new sealed reel and tried to print as usual but all I got was a mess. I tried various temperatures and tried the generic petg setting and it's all the same. This filament is only good for string for a weed trimmer. Anybody else have this problem or did I get a bad batch? (Prusa slicer and prusa mini all software up to date).

Haven't tried the basic PETG, but I have a fresh roll of prusament PLA that instantly clogs up and just doesn't work at all.

If you switch now to different filament, is the situation better? It does not necessary have to be the currently used filament, but some other HW issue that just happend. Like nozzle clog.
If you are talking about Turquoise Blue PETG filament 1kg on the Prusa eshop, it is not in fact a Prusament. This filament is not made by Prusa. It is resale from Filament PM. For this filament it is better to use PrusaSlicer profile Prusa PETG instead of Prusament PETG. It is printed with a bit lower temperature than Prusament (230/240 °C instead of 240/250 °C). I printed lot of from this brand in last years, never had issue with.

Hi thanks for the reply. I did try the same print with Prusament and it printed perfectly so no hardware issues. I used the recommend nozzle and bed temperatures and even tried everything from 230 to 250 and 60 to 95 on the nozzle and bed temperatures with no luck. Also smooth and powder coated sheets. I also tried the Generic PETG setting but no luck with that either. As a last resort I put it into a convection oven at 60 degrees for several hours but it made no difference. I hope Prusa give me a refund or credit. They should not have their low quality filaments mixed in with their Prusament filaments on their webpage.

The roll can be wrong, that is sure possible. But I do not think Prusa has mixed "low quality" with theirs. They have a section for PETG. Here you can find PETG filaments from many different vendors. Then there is a section for Prusament only and here you can find only Prusament rolls of different materials. So if you chose wrong one, I would not blame others. Also as I said, the filament you have issue with (but different color) I used for years, even before Prusa started to make their Prusament. I have never had an issue. So I would guess more on some wrong roll.
Use Prusa PETG, not Generic PETG profile, but it will not change the result, the difference is minimal or none.

Latest update. The Prusa rep asked for pictures of prints with good and bad filament plus pictures of the reel bar codes. After some experimenting I noticed if I slowed the print down to 25% it worked better but still not like Prusament.

Did Prusa ever recommend dehydrating or drying the filament?
