Prints failing midway through
Hi
I have a Tronxy X5SA Pro 3D printer.
A couple of weeks ago I had a problem with some failed prints after printing successfully in PETG for a few weeks. I purchased two replacement hotends a few weeks ago, one all metal hotend and one standard MK8 hotend. I replaced the heating cartridge and thermistor.I installed the MK8 hotend and prints are still failing partway into the print in PETG. I then tried PLA that had worked before and encountered the same problem. I then changed to the all-metal hot end and got the same results with PETG. It looks like a clog in the hotend halfway through the print, but after a print has finished I can extrude filament fine.
The prints seem fine until roughly halfway through (not the same point each time) where under-extrusion occurs and then the printer keeps printing but nothing comes out. This leaves a layer of fluff on the top of the print.
I am printing at 225 degrees celsius for PETG with hotbed at 80 degrees and 210 degrees with 55 degree hotbed for PLA.
Do you have any suggestions as to what could be the problem? I am thinking that it might be something to do with temperature dro[pping over time but am not sure how to fix it.
I would appreciate any advice.

The Tronxy machines, IIAC, are quite a bit different than the Prusa machines, thus there will not be that much expertise on them here, as this is a Prusa forum.

These symptoms hint at the problem:
- You can extrude filament fine when not printing.
- You can print partway through lengthy prints.
- During longer prints, you are getting under extrusion and feed problems.
This is what typically happens when you over-run the maximum volumetric speed (MVS -- throughput) of your hotend. This will often happen under two conditions:
- You have mounted a larger nozzle and are trying to print at speeds that result in exceeding the MVS of your hotend + filament + nozzle combination.
- You have been printing lower layers with solid infill just fine, but are using higher speeds for sparse infill higher up.
The easiest test for this is to just slow down. Mid-way through the print when you notice under extrusion or feed issues (often extruder clicks), dial the speed back 50% or more. If the problem goes away, you know it's something you can fix in your slicer settings. In PrusaSlicer, setting MVS in a custom filament preset (Filament Settings->Advanced) is the simplest.

I typically print PETG at 230C if using any sort of speeds (>60mm/s), and often at 250C or higher (all metal hotend required) for faster rates. 210C should be fine with most PLAs. You can increase nozzle temps a bit to improve flow, but only so much before you get stringing and quality issues.

Indirectly, yes. If the hotend can't melt and move filament quickly enough, it's trying to push cold filament through.
As @jsw notes, this is a Prusa forum, so Tronxy hardware knowledge will be slim. I can't be any more helpful than these suggestions. You might try asking over on the Tronxy support forums or helpdesk.
