Printing with PETG on Ultrabase

I printed a PI case in PETG and had huge difficulty with first layer adhesion of the small details around the knock-out and the Celtic logo. I eventually got an OK case which is mechanically sound but the detail is horrible.

Having got the Pi safe in box my challenge was to produce a clean part.

I tried using a 4 layer raft and got this

It would appear that the top layer stuck to well to the raft. A perfectly servicable part but not very pretty.

In desperation I tried flipping the part over and accepting all the resulting support material. I got this

Which is much nicer, although obviously print time was much higher. Unfortunately the corners lifted and the part was warped.

I think I'm going to try the raft again but only with one layer.

BTW sadly I do not have a Prusa printer but this is the best 3D printing forum I've found. The filament is Prusament Orange, gorgeous isn't it.

Here's another picture of my last print, angled so the surface finish is visible.

Any advice, insight etc. welcome
