Printing with FilaTech's FilaTough

FilaTough filament is a fairly new filament (2019) and I can't find much user experience on the Web. It has promising physical properties for my applications so thought I'd give it a try. It's similar to Nylon in toughness and friction but much easier to print with - Filatech don't reveal what plastic/s are used to make it but it doesn't need an enclosure to print successfully. It's definitely at the technical/engineering end of the filament spectrum. I'm using it for gears and bearings and I will try it as a hinge material soon. Here are PrusaSlicer settings that work for me on Mk3S that you could use as a starting point:

Print settings:

   layer height: 0.2mm all layers
brim: 10mm (15mm for tall thin prints)
   skirt: 0
   speed: 30mm/s
   small perimeter speed: 50%

Filament settings:

   extrusion multiplier: 1.15
   extruder temp: 240C all layers
   bed temp: 60C all layers
fan: off except for small layers, then 10% fan for layer time below about 15s

This stuff is great.  I am working on a write up and review.  I might use some of your stuff.  I compare it to ABS without the fumes or need for an enclosure.

It is available on Amazon -> Filatough

Feel free to use it, that’s why I posted! Forgot to mention I use smooth bed with glue stick. I look forward to your review.

I had a few prints detach part way through so I just use a brim and glue stick all the time for FilaTough now.

BTW FilaTough doesn't seem to be available on the amazon.co.uk site but it can be ordered direct from the uk.fila-tech.store site. In the UK it's delivered internally so shipping charges are reasonable but this may not be true in all countries. The store supports currencies BGP, USD, EUR and AED.

Looks quite good on spec, hard as lego yet tough so does not shatter as easily, temperature resistance of PC etc etc

Engineering compound
Low melting point for easier printing
Lower shrinkage rate
Higher HDT up to 130 oC
Excellent balance of hardness and flexibility
Good tensile strength
Resistant to oil and chemicals
Excellent printing quality at low process temperature
Easy to Print in ordinary 3D printers
Extra low moisture absorption
Styrene Free
Bisphenol-A Free

Normal people believe that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Engineers believe that if it ain’t broke, it doesn’t have enough features yet.
