Printer profile conversion from Cura to Prusa Slicer
Has anyone created a spreadsheet (or similar document) that assists in conversion of printer profile settings found in Cura to the equivalent settings AND location in Prusa Slicer? A well written spreadsheet could accept a dump of the Cura Printer profile and automatically convert it to the settings in Prusa Slicer (and even export the profile in the Prusa format). I could easily write such code in a spreadsheet but have insufficient knowledge about the specifics of the respective terminology and function correlation between the two slicers.

Hi, Did you ever get anywhere with this request? I am looking for the same!
cheers

RE: Printer profile conversion from Cura to Prusa Slicer
Hi Kev, and no, I did not get any response and have not made any progress on this idea. However, I have been delving into g-code recently and adjusted the startup of a Vivedino Troodon printer to successfully print parts. It wasn't as hard as I imagined with many online g-code descriptions available. I have also recently manually edited multiple settings in PrucaSlicer for a soft TPU and now feel much more comfortable about many of the setting names and functions (PrusaSlicer is quite good at giving an explanation when you hover over a setting). So I feel like I am better educated than when I asked the question but perhaps not quite there to tackle it on my own.
FYI, I am a Brit living in the US. I presume you are in the UK from you handle?
Cheers
Derek
RE: Printer profile conversion from Cura to Prusa Slicer
Hi Derek, yep lining on the South Coast UK. I still regard myself as a novice with the printer even though I have had it for 18 months plus. It is normally so easy to use I have not had to use anything but stock settings etc so delving into the g-code is pretty much a non-starter for me LoL.
I would say having searched every where for help on the subject I am a little disappointed by the lack of response from Prusa and the forums when you think of all the "gurus" that show up when it is a Z problem 🙂
Best Rgds
Kev

Hey I'd help but I don't use Cura lol. I tried it several years ago, decided I hated it and just carried on using Slic3rPE/Prusa Slicer.
RE: Printer profile conversion from Cura to Prusa Slicer
Hi Kev, we moved from Haywards Heath to the US in 1989!
G-code was a mystery to me till I had to do something to get the Troodon to work. In expert mode, go to Printer Settings and Custom G-code. The first box shows the start code which is where I did the editing. I needed to bring the nozzle up to temp just before it printed the strip on the front edge. I also wanted to raise the extruder about 50mm and bring it to the front so that I could clean the nozzle with pliers before it printed. After succeeding with this I did a couple of other cleanups and it all worked out well. So, like anything new, take some baby steps and once you have, the wall will be easy to climb over.

Neophyl, yea, I had become familiar with the PrucaSlicer and did not like Cura. But some printers are only supported in Cura so I though that someone would have done what I was asking before. Cheers.

Since PrusaSlicer is a fork of Slic3r, the curaToSlic3rProfile/Conversion.md may be a starting point. Tools, such as tableconvert.com/markdown-to-excel, are available which can convert the Markdown table to a spreadsheet table.
