PrintABrick down?

Hi,

A couple of weeks ago I found this site: https://printabrick.org/ they have plenty of lego bricks in STL format. I wanted to test print some of them today but it looks like the site is down. At least I cannot access it from my location.

1) Can you access it?

2) Have you printed LEGO parts and do they work? When I was a kid I loved to play with lego Technics so I wanted to print some parts form that collection.

Regards

Ignacio

I'm in the US, and I can't access that site. I get an error 520:

I'm not familiar with that site, so I can't make any comment about the quality of their models.

Don't know about that site, but I've used stuff from ldraw.org before.

As far as working, it's kinda like using the knock off bricks. They work, but not as nicely as the real thing. The first print I did was to grab a 16x16 plate and embed my son's name on it. He loves it and real Lego does stick to it, but it definitely doesn't look as good as the real thing and other bricks can either be loose or really tight.

You can find plenty of example pics of parts people have printed. If you do it at a low layer height with a tiny nozzle it will probably look decent at arms length. Try to rush through it at a .2mm height on a .4 nozzle and it's going to look terrible.

RE: PrintABrick down?

The site was taken down when Lego Company targeted all sites that contained lego type bricks available to the 3D printing community siting copyright.  However the copyright on bricks has expired hence companies like Lepin exist.  I used to support Lego... not so much now...

This is a great site, I used several times to find and print a brick kids were missing from sets. There is one negtive, the bricks are not much detailed (too low polygons). So for simplier bricks I am using OpenSCAD brick generator and then modify from base brick as needed. Or even combine wih the downloaded one.

You guys do know about the Wayback Machine, right? printabrick is still on there. Here's a link to one of the latest saved versions of it:

Like this if you appreciate it!

@jkinch03

While it might still be available, any of the searching is pretty much busted unless the crawler rendered each and every item.  Since every brick wasn't cached, it's not complete.  Looks like Lego won using their bullshit scare tactics.

For what it's worth, the source for the site and some instructions on how to set it up (it's PHP) can be found here:

IIRC it uses the LDRAW parts library which is still readily available
