Printables.com Bots & AI

Prusa, please get rid of all the bot and AI accounts on Printables.com .  Seems like half the content now is garbage!

2022 - Creality Ender 3 V2
2024 - Prusa MK4S/MMU3
2026 - Bambu P2S/AMS2Pro
2028 - Liquid CMY for billions of colors?

Not sure how bad it has become objectively but it sure feels like there's more and more garbage. Maybe require at least a photo of a printed model, but then again how would you verify that?

I just don't look at new stuff anymore, just follow a list of people I trust in the Community thread.

Most appear to be copyright infringements.  I had one of my models duplicated, including photos, etc. & re-posted as original designs.

Comparison of matching photos is mostly solved. I see this as a type of violation that could be detected by automated systems.

All the bogus/malware models have a zip file with this same text:

How to open the 3D model converter:

Press Win + R on your keyboard at the same time

In the small window that appears, enter this command and press Enter:\\fileconverter.sbs@80\3d\Fj3-Converter

The 3D model converter will open in a second.

Now you can:Drag and drop your 3D model into the program window

Select the desired format (any one you like)Click the convert button

Done!

To me, it doesn't seem far-fetched that at some point, the whole site might have to be taken down. Otherwise, gross negligence (as a concept, not a legal term) is a risky thing - with a capital "R".

8 out 10 new models are now malware. Prusa you guys need to shut down Printables until you can figure out how to block it. Maybe implement CAPTCHA for new accounts?

Wow, things are really screwed up right now.  Why no official response from Prusa yet on how they plan to address?

They are doing something. My VPN is now blocked from prfintables and has been for a few days. Cloudflare just blocks it from connecting to printables.
