Preheat nozzle only?

Is there a way to preheat just the nozzle so I can unload/ load filament without the bed heating? I'm using a BuildTak sheet which, for PLA, works best with a bed temperature of just 30 C. The normal procedure to change PLA filament includes preheating the bed to 60 C, so once the filament has been changed, I then have to wait for the bed to cool down, which is frustrating when in a hurry.

Re: Preheat nozzle only?

You could create a G code file that you can call off your SD card anytime you liike...

could even have several for different filaments... but would probably end up more clicks than using the settings option

My current workaround is to start a PLA print but switch off once the nozzle has reached temperature. But I'd have thought an 'official' nozzle only preheat would actually be more useful than a nozzle + bed preheat, which I can't really see a good use for, probably due to limited experience. Or even better, have a preheat built in to the unload/load filament routine.

Settings > Temperature > Nozzle

Sure, you have spin the dial, but this gets you what you want. Set back to zero after you have finished your load/unload.

I do a version of what Kevin posted:

To heat: Settings > Temperature > Nozzle > spin dial to desired temp < three(3) clicks back to Info Screen
To cool: Preheat > Cooldown (it is the last item on the list) > Click and you will be returned directly to Info Screen

This cooldown method is just a bit quicker, but either cooldown method works.

Or wait a few seconds after setting the temperature (1 click).

To cool: Preheat > Cooldown (it is the last item on the list) > Click and you will be returned directly to Info Screen

It would be nice, if this item is on the top of the list. Maybe in a newer firmware ? 😉
