PLA Temperature tower didn't tell me anything usefull.

Hi.
I printed this temperature tower. I manually added temperature change g-codes and I verified it with the temperature display on the printer LCD.
I printed this no name PLA that I had laying (exposed to elements) for over a year.

This is the result. It doesn't tell me anything useful. Maybe you can interpret it better.

@hooch

The Pictures are a lot better now. thank you.

As you say, there doesn't seem to be a lot of difference.
If you try to bend the towers, do they break anywhere... This might indicate poor bond strength

maybe someone else can offer comments

Also - what command are you sending to change temps?  The wrong command can skew temps and make everything look kind of similar.  Also, PLA or any plastic that isn't 'dry' can show amazingly similar print characteristics as temp settings increase, since the moisture boiling off inside the nozzle is more or less fixing the temp lower than where set.

@tim-m30

I used the same gcode that prusa slicer generates. I also verified temp on prusa LCD screen as I was printing each layer.

Most temp towers require manually editing the gcode to make temp changes. They don't do that automatically. That's why I was asking which command you were using.

Hi, Like I mentioned. I used the same gcode for temperature change that prusa slicer uses (M104 S230). I also verified temperature by looking at current temperature displayed on printer's LCD.

Maybe this PLA really doesn't care about temperature. Only slight stinging at over 225.

Given your results I would use the hottest temperature that produced an acceptable strings and overhang result.  My reasoning is that the hotter temp should increase the layer adhesion and also hotter should give slightly better volumetric flow throughput.

btw what brand of filament is it ?

This is 3DActive (Polish company, very cheap) filament I bought over a year ago and stored outside drybox for a year.
When trying to find it again, I see that company no longer exists.

Maybe plastic is good. But size isn't really that consistent.

@hooch

Thanks.  If they no longer exist then I wont try and find a roll for experimenting with then 🙂  Especially if the diameter is not consistent.

M109 is a better command for towers ... but with 5 degree steps, probably not too important.
