Overextrusions when printing figurines and the such

Whenever I try to print a figurine, or anything moderately detailed, about 30 minutes into the print my prusa extrudes way too much causing a raised area in the print. This later evolves to a blob and then the printer crashes a lot.

At first I thought I just had to adjust the extrusion multiplier but the test cube came out fine and even turning the multiplier down to .9 did nothing to fix it

  • Original Prusa MK3S+
  • Protopasta basic PLA
  • 0.05 layer height
  • 0.4 nozzle diameter
  • 15% infill

I think you should use smaller nozzle for 0.05 & 0.07 layer height (that's why smaller nozzle exist), or you try with 0.10 layer height.

Low layer height

Ditto.  Larger nozzles withh create over extrusion and grinding on lower layer heights.
