Object Movement with Keyboard in Sli3r

I have a very large print consisting of many shapes that have dimensions up to 250mm. I believe I can get them all to fit onto the build plate if I could move the objects around the plate by hand. However, if I move these objects via the mouse they no longer want to fit horizontally on the build plate as they are exactly 250mm. Auto Arrange does a decent job but once it starts to get tight it gives up and just puts things wherever it wants.

So I'm wondering is is possible to move objects via the keyboard in 1mm increments and if not could the Prusa team add that functionality?

I don't think it is. I was looking for this functionality just this morning. It would also be nice to step through layers in preview mode with the keyboard. Sometimes using a mouse or trackpad is difficult to do precisely.

PrusaControl lets you type the exact position of each part using the keyboard. It limits you to a few default configurations and references an old version of the slic3r though.

Best thing would be to post it as feature request on github:

You can use the keyboard to step through the layers in preview mode. Click in the slider area and you can then use the up/down arrows to move one layer at a time.

Ah yes, the side arrows seem to work in Layers view. It'd be nice to have the same function in the Preview mode. Good to know, thanks!

No, Kevin's correct. Mouse click once on the slider bar in PREVIEW mode, and thereafter, [you] can use the up/dn arrows to step through the layers.

I can also step through them one layer at a time with just mouse clicks (again, PREVIEW mode); 1 click = 1 layer.

This is Slic3r PE version 1.40.1 +win64 if that makes a difference.

That's "MISTER Old Fart" to you!

No joy. It works fine on LAYERS mode.

1.41.0-beta+ on Mac. Looks like there's already an open issue on GitHub for it.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll throw a request out. In the mean time I'll just make a huge stl file in tinker cad with all the parts just where I want them.
