Nozzle Temp Setting Changes

Temp setting issue

I’m using Prusa Slicer on a MacBook Air M1 and printing on a Voxelab Aquila.  Generally I’m very pleased.  Prusa is easy to learn, gives good quality prints, and works very well for me— except for one thing.

Every time I start a print it loses the nozzle temperature setting and the temp drops to 105 degrees.  I have to quickly reset it while it’s doing the skirt, then it works okay for the rest of the print.

I use the generic filament profiles in Prusa and they work very well with minimal adjustment.  But even when I reset the nozzle temp in the settings under the filament tab, it still drops to 105 every time I start a print.  It doesn’t matter what material I’m using or what I set the temp to in the settings tab.

  •    It didn’t do this when I first started using Prusa, but now it does.  I tried printing the test piece that came loaded on the SD card with the printer and it didn’t have any problem.  I also printed a part I had sliced with Voxelmaker (which I don’t care for).  No problem.   It only happens when I run a print that was sliced with Prusa.   Did I accidentally change something?   Has anyone else seen this happen?

RE: Nozzle Temp Setting Changes

Can you save the file you are trying to print in the slicer as .3mf file and upload it here?
The printer can't really lose the nozzle temp setting and certainly would not jump to 105 by itself. Sounds to me like some odd g-code hidden somewhere, if your general slicing setting is correct for the filament.

Sounds like something in your printer settings. Maybe something in the startup gcode.

I think I replied to the wrong person.  You asked for a copy of the file I'm printing.  How do I attach a file to this reply?

In Prusaslicer, go to File/Save project as, to create the 3mf file. Zip compress it (right click Compress on Mac and Win11, right click Send to/Compress on Win10) to turn it into a .zip file, which you can attach to a post on this forum. The forum software does not accept .3mf files, it has to be a .zip file.

Sorry to be so ignorant but this forum is new to me.  I don't see anything in this "Leave a reply" window that says attach file.

Maybe because you are a new member? I think you need at least 5 posts in the Prusa forum before you are able to attach a file to your post. Normally you have a button on the left side below the area you type your comment.

RE: Nozzle Temp Setting Changes

Hi Bill,
if you look just below the text input window, there should be an 'Attach File' button,
there are a limited range of file extensions that you can attach.
another option is to drag a suitable file, into the bottom of the text input window and the window colour should change, (In my case it changes to Blue)
then you can drop the file into the text input window.

you can usually add .jpg picture files and .zip compressed files, with no problem..

so if I wand to add a .3mf file, I first create the project in Prusa Slicer, and save the project as a .3mf file, then I zip compress the .3mf file, and add the compressed zipfile to the text input window on the forum

regards Joan

Thanks for the help.  Apparently it was because I am a new member.  This is only my fifth post and now the Attach File message has appeared.

So here is the file as an example of one I have this problem with.  If you see anything there that is causing this problem, that would be very helpful.

Let me try again.  I clicked "Choose File".  Selected the zip file I had prepared.  Clicked "Upload" and the file name now appears beside "Attach file" below this text window.  If I click "Add Reply" does that not send you this message and the attached file?

RE: Nozzle Temp Setting Changes

It would appear not...  from the lack of attachment,
try this file...

fan-shroud_EF (1)_0.2mm_PETG_MK3S_35m

It worked for me, both as a drag and drop insertion, (Above) and an attach file  insertion, (Below)

RE: Nozzle Temp Setting Changes

It's a Mk3S fan shroud, may not be any use for you apart from being a known attachable file
