Notre Dame Model
Anyone have or know of a fair model of Notre Dame Cathedral ?? Something printable, or at least close to printable.
It's been years since I was there, but thought a small model of it on my desk would spur me to go again during reconstruction.

Looked at those earlier - and why I was asking for a printable version; I've almost beaten the realistic one into submission (with all the buttresses), but still a few missing fine scrollwork roof supports that seem to be hiding in plain sight. But scaled 2x and tweaked is going to take a couple of spools of filament. lol. The other two models are much too refined and missing critical features.

Thank you - it actually looks printable and has the flying buttresses; but lacks a lot of detail that could be there: doors, windows, etc.

The problem is that in one piece like a lot of example.
For more details this should be in several blocks but it take more work.

I agree, it's going to be very difficult to make a single-print model of Notre Dame.

Thank you Peter. This model comes fairly close and I may try printing it after the current job is complete.
In the best of the models listed earlier, it was a point cloud render and has a very good detail, but many of the vectors are wildly connected and form features that aren't actually there. Generally, what I am finding in the models is the minimum size in the detail is simply too small to render so the model designers leave them out entirely, and it affects the "look and feel" and prevents a realistic representation. Using some of Slic3r's tools, it is possible to make small bits print; but they have to be there. lol.

I did try the Reins print. After I finished printing a few 45 hour prints that didn't contain much in the way of retractions and z-hops, the Dom failed miserably after only 15 or so hours, on average, three times. New heat breaks are here for installation. Whether it is the retraction issue or the dust jam issue doesn't really matter: the step down from 2.2 mm to 2.0 mm just at the cold-hot interface is a mistake.

The model here at MyMiniFactory is really quite good. The model is in three pieces and the detail is awesome. I was able to print it this past weekend without any problems. I'll post pics if I can when I get a chance.

In the interest of full disclosure, this print was made on an Anet A8 because my MK3 was undergoing an upgrade and unavailable. However the Anet did a decent job reproducing the detail. However, I am confident that if I were to reprint on the MK3, there would be a noticeable improvement in quality.
The model was printed in three pieces, the facade (6 hrs) , the nave (16 hrs) and the roof (2 hrs) and is a nice desktop size.

@Rick - I've downloaded the Notre Dame model, looks like a good model - it's next on my print list.
I'll use a better filament than the granite look I used for Reims ... it has a few resolution issues, and the filament is pretty weak - e.g., extruding "bent" details like window frames and spires.

@Tim, I would be interested to see your print when it is done. I’m thinking about printing it again on the MK3 and scaling up a bit. I also am also considering adding some led lighting to the inside to showcase the intricate windowing.

I was lazy. Currently printing at 1.75x - any larger and the main section doesn't fit without rotating (which I did with the Reims model). I should have the three parts printed in a few days.

As for decorating, I thought adding colored gel filters to the inside walls might look like stained glass windows. Assortment packs are available for under $10 on Amazon. Then add a white light inside.
