Looking to purchase a XL printer just wonder when the next update, like version 2 while be released, hate to buy the current model if the next version is due out soon. Seem it is time for a update to it.

Thanks

RE: Next XL Update

Considering the time Prusa needed to get this thing out in the first place and the growing number of products they sell, I personally doubt there will be a bigger update anytime soon. And as there is with the MKx-series there probably will be an upgrade kit for smaller updates...

RE: Next XL Update

I suspect that if there is an upgrade coming any time soon for the XL, it will involve the new high flow nozzle and cooling, similar to what they did for the MK4->MK4S. I do wish that as soon as they figured out that the original PETG idler components in the Nextruder were not going to hold up that they would have proactively sent out the PC-CF parts to existing customers. My printer worked great when I first got it up and running. I was only printing with PLA, PETG, and TPU. But as soon as I tried to print with ABS, the higher heat needed caused minor deformation of the idler components. The deformation was not visible, nor could I feel any damage, but the result was that most of the 5 toolheads would no longer print PLA or TPU. For some reason, at least two of the toolheads would still print PETG. I suspect that it was because they didn't require too high of a nozzle temp, and that the filament was has harder than the other two. I had one toolhead that wouldn't print any filament into a useable part. I was getting very disappointed in the printer. After a great deal of research, that I was compiling to send to Prusa, I thought that I might try printing a new idler arm out of PETG with one of the remaining working toolheads. I went for broke and tried the new parts in the worst functioning toolhead. It was a huge success. Before doing any more testing, I printed a set of 5 idler arm sets out of ABS and replaced the parts in all toolheads. I am currently traveling, but when I return home I am going to order a spool of PC-CF and reprint a full set of idler arm components for all toolheads. I am also going to print new nozzle fan air ducts as well because I have noticed deformation in those PETG parts as well.

It will be interesting to see what updates for the XL do eventually come out.

RE: Next XL Update

I would love if the next announcement was an upgrade kit for the enclosure to turn it into a massive XL-style printer. Prusa employees - if you're reading this, please do this and I will throw whatever money I can get my hands on at you
