RE: new prusa mk3s
There will definitely be some new printer, but Jo knows when. They are cooking MK4 and XL, but we do not know when either of those will be introduced, and which will be first. Let's say if one gets officially announced let's say at MRRF in spring and starts selling in August-September, the other may not be sooner than autumn, or even next year. Not to mention looooooong waiting lists for pre-orders and backorders and initial teething pains. If you need or want printer, you won't go wrong with MK3S. Chances are later down the line they will introduce upgrade to some newer components.
RE: new prusa mk3s
Last official statement is, that the XL is the only new printer that will be released this year. No new i3 iteration (MK4).
But I neither trust this statement. I'm sure we will see something new in addition to the XL till the end of the year. Even if it is a small part upgrade.

Mk3.5S 🙂
RE: new prusa mk3s
So far there was never a wrong time to buy a Prusa printer. Your decision should be if you want to be an early tester (first buyer) or you just need a reliable machine.
The current MK3s reached stable state after couple revisions and most likely there will be an upgrade path if you really want to upgrade. Even if there will be an announcement for Mk4, you can add one year of development, refinement until it has similar quality like the generation before.

@nikolai-r
yes sure, you're right
i currently have a CR10S, it works but i often need to readjust bed levelling and so on .. there is a lot of maintenance and i have more and more prints to do for my customers, so i need a printer that works without readjust everythings before each print. i want to click and print (well, if possible) 🙂
i think i'll buy a MK3S, the next one will be in one year average you're right (annoucement, waiting. queue, first bugs, etc) . if my business goes on i can buy a one one next year 😉
the mk3s has a background and all bugs are fixed, that's a good thing for production 🙂
Thanks

Yes, in a few weeks you will see a "REAL 3D PRINTER:) Tnjoy the GREAT features of it:).
Are you in the States? MRRF has a great show in Goshen. IN in April. Jo Prusa will be there as well.
RE: new prusa mk3s
Despite what others say, even a MK3 is not a painless printer. Some of us have it down to almost a science, but generally speaking, nearly every print requires optimization to get best quality, ART is required.
One example is while you can get by without leveling the bed every print, if you change filament you must make adjustments to ensure a good layer one. Why? It is a simple fact filament diameter plays a roll, and no two spools of filament are the same. The other is bed cleanliness. While I take great care to avoid touching the print surface, invariably some part of my skin makes contact and oils spread and cause adhesion problems. Could be my cats walking on the sheet, not my hands, but, a trip to the sink with the print sheet is common.
I say this because a lot of people are quite happy with their CR10, just like a lot of people are happy with their MK3: and just as many are unhappy with both. It is all a perspective. If you think printing is turn-key requiring no effort or expertise, you won't enjoy any printer.

...if you change filament you must make adjustments to ensure a good layer one...
"Must" is a hard word. You can, if you want. I know some people are doing first layer porn with adjusting the bed down to ~0.02mm variance and playing with the first layer adjustments until it looks perfect.
I don't change it as long as the print stays on the bed. This usually works for me with more then 100 prints across all colors/brands (applies to PLA/PETG only). The only time where I change live-z is for different filament types (ABS, PC, Nylon, FLEX).

Yes in fact, every 3D printer require maintenance and knowledge.. but if i can limit maintenance it's nice 🙂
i also need reliable components in time and i think the peaces of mk3 will run longer that a CR10. My CR10 isn't a bad printer, but as i have more and more prints to do, i want to try a 3D printer more professional. Moreover the slic3r is nice to use and has good options like layer height zones (new in version 2)
I am in France 😉 i 'll looking for shows near me..

Please do go to a 3d faire close to you as seeing it all in person is a great experience:)
RE: new prusa mk3s
I do a quick Live-Z print whenver making a hardware change, usually a nozzle swap. I find it is usually enough to make a tweak during the 1st layer otherwise.
I have been please to note that the multi-sheet feature in recent firmware is working nicely and that I haven't needed to re-do Live-Z when swapping between sheets once initially calibrated.

Should I feel ashamed and not worthy by saying "Eh, it will be covered" when it's not perfect? 😯
RE: new prusa mk3s
My MK3S just shipped hihi yes !
I also have a CR10 and i added the settings to slice models with prusa slicer for myCR10S and it works well. Some features are really great and it prints quicker than with CURA. sometimes 2x faster with same quality prints

Congratulations. Take your time and use the online manual. The comments from those who came before can be invaluable and the ability to enlarge the pictures can be nearly priceless when confused.
