I come to Switzerland and I get to pay on their ground for the printer.

Just curious.

RE:

It's been a while since I've traveled internationally, but I do recall getting a form on the plane on return to the US where I needed to declare all foreign purchases that I'm returning to the US with. When going through customs to return to the US I think I remember handing that form to the customs agent. If anything would need to be paid to bring my purchases back into the US that is where I would be charged. (For me, usually it was an extra bottle or two of alcohol above the free amount.)

Yes, I suppose you could lie on the form (note, I'm not condoning lying to customs), but how do you propose to sneak something as large as a 3D printer into the country?

Also, remember that if you buy it in the EU you will be paying the VAT (which we don't pay when ordering from a country outside the EU).

Hi,

Switzerland is not part of the EU. Customs duties may already be due on imports from the Czech Republic to Switzerland.

Afaik the $800 limit to not paying import tax also applies to items you yourself bring on a plane.
