Need help/advice in making a Frankenstein FF-Prusa monster

Hi all,

I'm new here and would like to ask for a constructive critique of my idea.

BACKGROUND: basically, I own an Adventurer 4. It is not that bad of a printer, but I am beyond pissed off with the lie that flashforge sold me printer on - namely automatic bed levelling. It is not automatic, you do it with a little metal shim manually, but that's not an issue. The issue is that when you do a 9 point bed leveling, the FF just averages those points and applies an offset. I mean, c'mon. It's insulting to even all it bed leveling. It annoys me to heavens.

Structurally, it's not that bad of a printer. It has enclosure, even a nice closed spool holder (which does keep my filaments fairly dry for an extended period of time) so I think it's a good idea to take advantage of it. I am absolutely adamant of never, ever, ever get myself at the mercy of a black box solution. Going back to open source.

PLAN: I really like the Nextruder way of pushing the filament. My idea is to get xBuddy board from MK4, Nextruder (when available) and swap them instead of FF innards. I would love to use the existing touchscreen, but if that won't work I can get another screen, print a nice enclosure and glue it over the existing one. I kind of think that I would get it to MK3.9 (motors are 1.8deg). Obviously, there would be a need for an interface plate between nextruder and my current holder, but that shouldn't be a problem. In the future, I would even consider upgrading the motors to 0.9deg ones, but let's take it one step at a time.

Can anyone tell me why this would be a bad idea? Prusa MK4 kit + enclosure costs 1200 eur. I would expect Nextruder to come under 200 eur so I could do the frankenstein monster for less than 400 eur which seems very attractive. As a bonus, I would never have to intract with flashforge again.

Thanks
