Once they see how the XL chatter is going.. I'm sure they'll change it. Awaiting moderation is not a technical issue.. it is a setting that got turned on ..

Of course that goes for the rest of us, it might be  a good time to start looking for another place or way to express our opinions. To me it feels like they are trying to get us to go away.

Hello all; 

a quick little update at zero dark thirty on my end.

We had to increase some filters to catch an increase of spam attacks. As a result, regular users were getting caught in "moderation". It is something that we are fine tuning so that it does not affect our regular users. I do apologize for this inconvenience for this and it is being worked on daily to get things sorted quickly.

I don't believe you, I think your full of it. We are days into this, and your just now mentioning this? If it mattered to Prusa something might have been mentioned well before this time for the regular users of the community, People that try to help others, It would seem that Prusa, and it's admins would have very little concern for us. and your statement isn't helping us feel Better. just another instance of Prusa to little to late. I was a fan of your company at one time and I defended when persons made poor comments about the ways the company responded, but frankly I'm now seeing what they meant. you have a lot of making up for to regain the respect you once had.

I hope you can take care of this quickly, as I have not received any subscriptions for quite some time and there is less interaction on the forum due to this problem. My posts are waiting a little while longer to be unlocked (Awaiting moderation).

It seems to be going around.  A boat building forum that I follow has been having severe problems with spam attacks, and in the last few days have had to implement some additional measures that are a PITA for legit users.  The problem is no matter what measures you put into place to keep spammers off a site, they will find a way around them.  At some point the game of whack-a-mole becomes overwhelming for (usually volunteer) moderation staff.

Spam comes in cycles...    this is the 'Covid' Cycle. bigger and more prevalent than anything else within recorded history!

You think you have got rid of it, then it 'bites ya bum' again!

I think this points to the heart of why long term users are so unhappy about the situation.

This wasn't an unexpected outage that nobody could have predicted. This was a dedicated effort to deal with attacks.

One post, ONE measly post, along the lines of "we're trying to fend off the Bad Guys, but this will cause some issues for reputable users. We're sorry for this and will fix it as soon as possible" would have been enough to do damage control. Instead, weeks of deafening silence, and clearly even the moderators who I am sure work their (I assume unpaid) asses off, not aware of what was going on.

I hope the web team will have a postmortem on this and find ways to improve communication to users.

Thanks for the info - I guess... But too little, too late - seriously, you are fine tuning for days/weeks but still long term members with 1k post or so can not post without "awaiting moderation"? Are you sure your guys are up for the job??

I think we should give the moderators some slack. This can be an unthankful work and a lot of it, too. 
However, the fine-tuning somehow seems to be off by a mile if a lot of long term, frequent users are bombed with "awaiting moderation" blockades. 

I am sure a more pro-active communication before the fact about this would have helped a lot to avoid confusion and/or frustration. 

PS: Let's see if this posts will await moderation ...

Yep, I still can't post anything without awaiting moderation ... for weeks now already.

Just a couple of points; 

1). If anyone has a issue with how things are being run, I am the admin and the responsibility falls on me. Just like how community members help other members, the moderators are here helping with the operation of the forums and are following my instructions. So I appreciate and understand the frustration users can have right now, you can blame me for it and take it up with me. I am not calling anyone out for this, but I want to make this painfully clear to everyone. 

2). I made the choice not to publicly address this within the forums sooner as my concerns was that the spammers would see it and try another approach and wanted to have time to shore up other options to exploit. Myself and the moderators are monitoring the situation I am in communication with the web developers to try and eliminate this spam issue as quickly as possible AND return things back to normal operations. 

I should have an update within the next 24-48 hours and I will post it here. 

I apologies for the issues everyone is having and I will work on getting it resolved as I have been doing daily.

@same-old-shane Nobody attacked or blamed the mods, you decided not to communicate the issue, that‘s what upset most users I believe. Since this was a deliberate decision this reaction should come as no surprise to you. Absolutely not need to make anything painful - sorry might just be me (no native English speaker), but this seems to be a very harsh choice of words…

I saw a few comments about mods and how things are ran. I did say I was not calling people out, but I wanted to stress where the attention / aggravation or whatever yo would like to call it should be directed. I do not believe it was written in a harsh or argumentative way. It was me informing people who is responsible an is on me.

I think the forum is a useful resource, also for the Prusa team, because here many unclarities are solved before they end up at Prusa.

For this reason, i think, the team will do everything possible to ensure smooth operation.
