MMU2 for Mini?

What are your thoughts about bringing this capability to the Prusa Mini?

RE: Not Heard

I was wondering out loud that with the Mini at this price point would it be a feature that some might be interested in having available to use versus manually switching out different color filaments.....

input

It is an interesting point.  I do not think the mini is expandable.  It might be worth suggesting when they ask for input again the next time.

hot end sensor required

I think, the mini would need a filament sensor in the hot end (at a precise distance from the nozzle) for this to work.

if it had one.. an universam MMU, one model fits all would be thinkable.

but the length of filament that will be retracted back on a change would be substantial.

Palette?

Pricey but Palette is an option. Not sure if it will work with a Bowden.

Palette?

Palette 2(s) works well with the mini(+).

Also, the mini(+)  is on the compatibility list for the palette 3 /3Pro.

The mmu is cool, but it's a lot of trouble. Printing new extruder parts today because the provided design isn't reliable for more than a few hours. The filament sensors both cause problems with enough tool changes. I think expecting to get multi-material printing at a low price is just asking for more headaches. Even with the Palette, people have a lot of problems with filament bonding or taking tight turns inside it's buffer. You can't use fibrous filaments with it because they will just snap. If you want less complicated transitions, you can create your own tool changes in prusa slicer on a layer basis.
