RE: MK4?
F them.
This had better be an early April fools joke or a mod on a new printer. If you are this late on the XL, and you are teasing a new printer…. Have you learned NOTHING?

RE: MK4?
If this is an April fools joke, it's a bad one 🙂 You don't start preparing your April fools joke on March 28th, you post it on April 1st.
Curious to see how this turns out.

Ok, so how long in your opinion would be an acceptable time for Prusa to wait between starting to ship the XL, and releasing an update of the I3? The XL is shipping now, and while there are still a lot of people waiting for theirs, that's a problem for production and not development. As the XL got nearer to being finalized, it seems like a no-brainer that R&D staff who had been working on it, would be shifted to adding some of its features to the legacy product. Now that they have hopefully ironed the bugs out of those features, adding them to the already thoroughly tested and proven I3 printer by its very nature would not have taken long.
I still think an "I4" CoreXY Prusa would make a lot of sense, sized and priced somewhere between the XL and the I3. That will take a little longer, but it should not take anywhere near as long as the XL has taken since they have already laid the groundwork.
RE:
I would be shocked if they release a CORE XY "Mk4" or "I4". It makes zero sense based on their history. They release incremental upgrades.
Could it be an "I4"? I doubt it. They will upgrade the "Mk4" before releasing a new Core XY in my opinion.

RE: MK4?
Looking at the photo in depth, it looks like a different hotend on the Mk3S, but it had a V3 Nozzle.

RE: MK4?
My assumption is:
- There will be a Upgrade for the MK3, consisting of a new mainboard, color screen,
the Nextruder and all loadcell-based features (no live-z dial in). Frame and heatedbed stay the same. - There will be another core-XY-printer with a 3x3 tiles heated bed resulting in 270x270 mm
print area and all features of the XL, but only one, maybe 2 extruders
RE: MK4?
I'm wondering if this could be the integration of Klipper into the MK3S series.
RE: MK4?
I would actually like to see a i4 Core xy version in 250x250x230 (or maybe a z=250), which should still fit anywhere an MK3s fits in. Larger printer come with downsides, higher energy consumption, higher price, rigidity/vibrations etc. and are not needed for most jobs.
Given that they already had a core xy of roughly that size on shows already, I don't think it should be more than a fraction of the challenge the XL is. Possibly one could take over most of the next gen extruder design from the XL (minus the tool changer aspects). But we'll see if Prusa still sees the market for such a device.
Mk3s MMU2s, Voron 0.1, Voron 2.4
RE:
Just to add to the speculation.. Remember when they announced a coreXY farm machine a few years ago.. with target price maybe closer to $3k?
RE: MK4?

Could it be an "I4"? I doubt it. They will upgrade the "Mk4" before releasing a new Core XY in my opinion.
That type of printer I suggested is obviously not what they are teasing right now, but I don't see the I3 with a new extruder, 32 bit board, and/or whatever as being more than an interim solution for Prusa.

I thank that is the perfect update.

You're not so far off the point there. I have installed Klipper on one of my MK3 with MMU2. In terms of speed, firmware handling, input shaping, LA ... a low cost alternative. You only need a PI. The original parts (LCD, Einsy, MMU2...) can be left as they are.
In any case, I am very happy with the Klipper alternative and will not change anything in the near future.

Uhm, this is a teaser, and they are MONTHS away from filing day one orders. If they want to release- as in sell an update- they can do it today. If they are going to push out that they will sell one in the future- heck no.
dig yourself out of the XL hole before you start digging another hole.
