RE: MK4?

Yes, duty paid is refundable. People complain about Bambu Lab customer support, but it's still better than Prusa support, unfortunately. I wish it was not that way.

RE: MK4?

That is not my experience.  I have had nothing but success with Prusa.  I had to figure it our for myself with BambuLabs.

Why do you say that? Where do you see the differences?

I see the chat as superior to anything BambuLabs has.  The forum, if used to get quick answers, is much better than the forum Bambu has.

The Bambu mafia swears by Discord.  I'm not too fond of it as a support option.   Then again, I might be biased against discord.  It is a personal preference, but I like the support I have received from the shop chat.

RE: MK4?

I've chatted with several people who have had their MK3S+ units for less than 60 days (the Prusa return period), several of whom have had their Prusas less than 30 days. Prusa does not offer a discount or any other offer for these users. Though they cut the price of the MK3S+ by $150 and priced the MK4 upgrade kit at $580, new Prusa owners are given no slack. In the end, we must pay $100-200 for original shipping and return shipping and are left with nothing but a bad experience. That is poor customer service and, to me, indicates a lack of caring for their customers. Without providing a good customer experience, Prusa had nothing to differentiate itself from Bambu Lab, Creality or any of a number of manufacturers providing competitive products. My X1C printed in 16 minutes the same Benchy that took my MK3S+ nearly 1.5 hours. That's 6x the speed. To get a Prusa with multi-material + enclosure + competitive speed would require me to spend $350 more on the Prusa than the X1C. $800 printer + $300 MMU + $500 enclosure + $200 shipping. Why would I do that? Well, if Prusa provided great customer support, that would be a good reason.

Less than 60 days after I got my MK3S+, the MK4 was announced. I contacted Prusa to see if I could upgrade to the MK4 for a reasonable price. To my surprise, I was not offered any price break at all. No discount. No refund. No voucher. Nothing. My sole option was to keep the printer or return it (at my expense) and get a refund. Sorry, but that's not a great choice for most people. Even Adobe, the big corporation that it is, offers recent buyers of their products a free upgrade to the latest version. So here I am about to spend another $50-100 to send back a product that I bought just before the manufacturer released the latest (and significantly modified) version. In the end, it will have cost me $100-$150 for owning a Prusa printer for less than 2 months.

I don't know if it makes a difference, but I was so sold on Prusa that I bought nearly a dozen rolls of their filament too. That excitement cost me $300+ that I could have spent on other stuff. Yeah, I'm not thrilled by my Prusa experience. Perhaps Prusa cared about their customers at some point, but my experience is just a pure capitalistic customer experience. Unhappy with our products? Go away. We'll find someone else to sell to.

And they will. Prusa is no longer Josef Prusa's personal company. It appears it's now just another corporate entity. Oh well.

RE: MK4?

I'm guessing my Prusa account will disappear soon. It's corporate policy.

RE: MK4?

Forum (other user) customer support is great either way. I just got the experience of paying $800 printer + $50 shipping + $50 customs duty for a printer just weeks before it was superseded by a much faster printer, along with seeing my printer offered a $150 discount. I was offered nothing, nor were any other buyers who made recent purchases. This is not at all the type of treatment that I expected when buying a well-known product from a well-respected company.

"Much Faster"?  Based on what?  No one has seen the Mk4 print at its max speed yet.

RE:

Chuck are you saying that your MK3+ can do a 19 minute benchy of that quality, even if you are using a .6mm nozzle?? Or are you just arguing for the sake of arguing..?  So I'm gonna say the MK4 just might be faster based on the video Prusa published below. You think prusa is timing the benchy for fun?

RE: MK4?

I am referring to the Mk4, but I have no idea how fast my Mk3 will print a benchie with Klipper.  I will tell you my ender will Klipper is pretty darn fast.

@cwbullet you are just arguing for the sake of arguing.. @tsmith35's statement was "it (stock MK3s) was superseded by a much faster printer".. and you seem to be arguing that point..  not sure how you can argue the quote.. nor do I see how klipper came into your argument.. but enough of this..

RE: MK4?

No, I missed that.  The title is MK4, so I thought he was talking about the Mk4.  Why would you ever compare the Mk3 to Bambu today?  The top of the fleet is the the Mk4.

RE: MK4?

I hadn't got mine yet, it was in transit. I got the same treatment as you have received. I'm on the fence about what to do. My opinion changes daily. If I return just the printer (keeping the enclosure and filament) and order the MK4 - it's s 6+week wait, yet they charge my credit card immediately. No idea when I will see a credit for the returned MK3S+. It's now 4 days and I have yet to hear from Prusa on returning the printer.

The LiveChat has gone from being good to being a pita. I think Prusa has a number of unhappy people at the moment, hence the 30+ minute wait times. What I do will be dictated by what, if anything Prusa does next. Do they adjust their process or stonewall - the 'I have spoken' attitude. Piss off enough customers and it could be they just jumped the shark. (from US show Happy Days where Fonzie jumped over a shark on water skis and the popular show tanked after that).
