Re: MK3S / MK4 Wishlist
I would like the capability to park the extruder in a different location so that I can pull the print sheet up for prepping the next print. That's if the capability is not already there and I haven't found it yet.
Most people just add the movement steps to the end gcode
True. But the thread is about enhancements. It would be a easy to build this in as the default behavior, and would improve the printer for those who are not comfortable with adding g-code. That is, the people for whom PrusaControl was written.
I'd disagree. Printers are best when they are predictable and controllable. Having it always move to one spot may be good for your application but not for others. G-code is very easy to make this happen. You can literally copy paste this into your ending gcode to accomplish what you are asking.
G1 F1000.0 ; set feed rate
G1 E-3 ; retract
G91; Set to relative mode
G1 Z20 F7200; Move up 20mm
G90; Set back to absolute mode
G1 X0 Y210 F7200 ; home XY axis
Re: MK3S / MK4 Wishlist
What about implementing IDEX system as BCN3D?
It would be awesome to have hobby budget printer, printing soluble/ dual color without disadvantages such as waste of time and extra material from purge block.
I guess toolchanger system as E3D did, wouldn't be "budget hobby" anymore (at least for now), so that doesnt fit prusa's consumers.
Re: MK3S / MK4 Wishlist
I'd like to be able to have my DAB radio on at the same time as the printer. The EMC from the MK3 completely knocks out reception. I know this might not be a problem for everyone, but since I work from home, I like to have the radio on in the background.
Re: MK3S / MK4 Wishlist
I gave up with classic (or DAB) radio and got myself Internet radio. Works like a charm, no problems with antenna, i can listen all stations (even worldwide) not only local ones.
And, as a side effect: i can tell immediately if internet connection goes down 😆
Re: MK3S / MK4 Wishlist
- remove the >>100% (filament flowrate ?) from the display and replace it with the part cooling fan speed. I've never used the flowrate, but I always check the fan-speed for optimizing new filament brands and types.
I'd like to see this configurable 😀
And I also second a USB stick instead of SD card.
This, and also have it on the right hand side, because... ergonomics 😀

As I am ambidextrous I will speek up for all the left handers out there and say "Hey! don't move the SD slot too the right move the control knob and reset button to the left :P"
Better yet have a dip switch to rotate the display through 180 degrees and have a choice of left handed or right handed LCD cover.

Re: MK3S / MK4 Wishlist
I’d like to see some extra threaded holes in the frame, and frog, maybe even some extra length on the frog.
These would provide no function to the printer, and need not even be documented.
Still, it would be nice to have some extra mounting points for aftermarket items like webcams, LED strips, Raspberry Pi cases, that sort of thing.
When someone asks you if you're a god, you say, "YES!"

Here's my 2 cents. I don't have my Prusa yet...so take it for what it's worth. 😀

I pretty much disagree with all your wishes 😉
A better screen (tft, oled etc) would be nice, and perhaps a couple of buttons would also be helpful. But a touchscreen is a pita unless it is large enough and responsive enough. And they cost money.
Out of the box wifi is not needed, and adding a feature that only some would use is a waste of resources, and would add to the cost.
Dropping the sd card is not a good idea. It is still the most reliable way of getting files to the printer. And the files themselves are so tiny that it takes only a few seconds for the copy process. Hardly the same as a floppy drive. If they are good enough for SBC like Raspberry Pi then they are good enough for an FDM printer.

I second this.
Re: MK3S / MK4 Wishlist
I kinda agree that dropping SD is not a good idea(ok, replacing with separate eeprom maybe...), however having wifi would be good if it would be possible to transfer files from PC to SD card. Some of us already have this option with toshiba wifi sd card and it's really great feature.

I comepletely agree. We need to move on from the old junk and have a touchscreen and a simple cord that connects between the printer and computer. It is much more useful when there isn’t an amount of storage on what is converting it. Maybe even an iPhone/iPad interface? 😀 Who doesn’t want it to be easy and simple to transfer what you want to print. More user friendly with a touchscreen and cord.

You don't need a touchscreen or built in wifi to achieve remote comms. One of the reasons for the Prusa is to keep it affordable. Adding all this stuff will add to the cost for very little gain.
Besides, how is transferring files via sd card not easy and simple? 🙄

Well..
- remove SD from printer,
- put it into PC,
- open explorer,
- pick and drop file to SD,
- remove SD from PC,
- put it into printer.
you can hardly say that this procedure is "simple". That's why i use wifi SD card: save file from slic3r directly to SD, goto printer and hit "print". THAT is simple.. 😉
That's why some sort of network connection should be very desirable. Wifi card is nowadays sooo cheap, it really wouldn't add to overall printer cost much.
Re: MK3S / MK4 Wishlist

😆 Ok, not simple for you 😆
Anyhow you don't have to use the sd card now if you don't want to, right? ➡ But there are plenty of us who still do use it ❗
Re: MK3S / MK4 Wishlist
I gave up with octoprint very quickly. I use it only for camera now. I print from SD, and i think that i can safely say that this procedure is not simple for most SD users, not only for me. You have the proof of that fact in section which describes problems with Toshiba WIFI card - there are many users who bought it and use it to simplify load procedure.
Re: MK3S / MK4 Wishlist
But, you have to be at the printer when you start the print, and you have to be at the printer when the print is finished, so ... 😮

Sorry, you have provided no proof whatsoever. 😛
Re: MK3S / MK4 Wishlist
An insulated heatbed and offers for students would be cool 🙂
Also it would be great if the leveling process gets even simpler, so you can just use it without doing anything, just like a 2D printer. (Just like with belt tension and everything else that's annoying.) If someone accomplishes this, 3D printing will get to every household I guess, not only people who are interested in technology.
Exchangeable nozzles like on the Ultimaker would be nice, too.
Re: MK3S / MK4 Wishlist
A third option of "one that works" would be good.
