Looking for someone to repair my MK3S

I am old and disabled and just cannot perform repairs on my printer. I do enjoy day to day printing and tuning. Recently I had a "blob" situation as I ran an overnight print. This blob was the mother of all blobs and really did a number on my print head / extruder. I attempted to clean the blob as usual with heat ups and debris removal. However, the blob was severe it damaged the wires going to the heat block. Being an "old" repairman, I disassembled some of the extruder to begin repair, (huge mistake). My eyesight is not the best and I have MS which compounds my ability to work on things anymore. I know I can ship my machine back to the factory for repair, but I was hoping someone closer to me might take on the repairs. I live in Nebraska, but I could ship the machine as well.

I would appreciate any and all suggestions on how to move forward. I know there is all kinds of videos and help manuals online, but at my age I just cannot bear the thought of digging into hours and hours of learning indepth repairs. Thanks!!

Hello and welcome to the forum!

Such a blob is of course an annoying thing and usually happens when you don't expect it. To find someone near you, the best way is to use "Prusaworld". I would like to help you, but I live in Vienna.

Where in Nebraska?

I live in the Wichita area and if your not far, we could plan for you to visit. There is a very good chance I will have everything we need to get you running again in my shop. I changed to a Mosquito hotend a year ago and have lots of parts for the original hotend Prusa uses. I should be able to repair it at no cost and maybe be able to send you home with some spares.

No problem

I live in Rose Hill, which is just southeast of Wichita. I’ll give you a call tomorrow after lunch. I’m retired, so I have 6 Saturdays and 1 Sunday. Makes for a flexible schedule!

Do not mean to step on your toes Larry!

I'm closer, but you may be able to help faster.  I am far from retired.  Still very willing to help.

Not stepping on my toes, but I do keep stuff most dont.

You are not stepping on my toes. I carry almost everything to repair a MK3 and the Mini. There are 3 MK3’s in the area and I have a Mini. About the only thing I don’t have is the main boards and until recently have not needed one. I keep several hotend heaters and thermoisters .

Thanks a bunch!!!

I appreciate all the help that has been offered. Shorter driving is good, but I'm sure I will need several parts. I will await your call Larry...

Enoch, I would still like to meet you sometime to chew the fat over 3D printers. Are you near Salina KS?

One final thought??

Would now be a good time to upgrade or try another extruder head? I have read about several that people brag about, but wonder if it would be worth it since I'm sure there would be a complete software change for operation. You guys are just sooooo dang smart!!!!

SUPER HELP

Larry Tener is most knowledible in all things Prusa Printers. Not only did Larry fix all my problems, he spent the entire afternoon educating me on the finer points of printer operations. I learned so much my head was exploding when I left.

I drove 4 hours to get there and 4 hours to get home and it was totally worth it. Larry is a wealth of knowledge and more than helpful!!

Thank you Larry!!
