Larger Original Prusa

Prusa sent out a survey asking if we were interested in a larger printer with Prusa quality. Yes! I want one! Has anyone heard anything about a larger Prusa printer?

No, but I would buy one. I am tempted to buy the Creality CR-10S Pro.

I answered yes please! I want one (MK3 XL?) with a printable area 300mm x 300mm x 300mm at least. Oh and for it to be compatible with the MMU2.

Sorry Joan!

I have no real need for a larger build area, but one designed and tuned around the E3D Volcano would be tempting.

Well if you want a Volcano on the MK3 there is my Full Print Volume Modification. It replaces the X-Carriage the Z-motor mounts and Z-tops raising the entire X-axis by 8mm. Included in the mod are V6 adapters to switch back to the standard block and nozzle without removing the mod or for a staged upgrade.

For tuning after fitting the mod the only change is to increase the maximum volumetric flow in Slic3r/filament/advanced by 50% for all filaments. You may also be able to lower printing temperatures by 5°C.

Martin

I build high power rockets for a hobby. I would love to have one I could print 4-6 inch diameter fin cans and nose cones.

I just printed a 6 inch bird feeder for dispensing peanuts in the shell. It worked surprisingly well with a 1.00mm nozzle. I'm able to produce thread-fit parts at 0.48mm layer height. The limited capacity of the E3D V6 hotend is definitely a downer as you print bigger things.

How tall do your sections need to be? At taller heights, I'd be worried about splitting at layers under the stress of high acceleration.

A 5:1 Von Karmen Nose cone would be 20 to 30 inches long.

The taller the desired print the less you want the bed of the printer to move. Hence making Delta form printers are very popular for this sort of thing...(there are other non moving bed designs and the CORE X Y type is where a lot of research is going right now/) look at the products of SeeMeCNC.com for examples that have built a monster version delta called the 'Part Daddy' that they take to maker fairs (MWRRF is one where you can see it print every year) that can print up to 9 feet high. they have just launched a Pro series od deltas call the BOSS line that I append below

The BOSSprinter™ series Starts at $4,500 which is a bargain compared to the $35,000 Part Daddy

Please provide the relevant specs. What sort of gummis does it ship with?

Curiously I mentioned that other kits that I had read about back in 2015 when I ordered my Rostock Max V2 supplied candy when I later had a filament order filled by them I found a packet of M&Ms in with the spool of ABS... but this was really just a gag referring to the thread in their forums where the subject of candy in printer kits had been discussed in a rather tongue in cheek way... Where I had posted that I thought a bottle of good champagne would be a more appropriate Gift the bag of M&Ms had a post it note on it that said something like 'Sorry the budget could not stretch to wine' 😛

Only +50% increase to the max flow rate? I thought the volcano was capable of 3x the v6's flow rate capacity?
