Is there anyone ordered Prusa from Turkey and would like to share the experience with customs?

I had a bad experience with Turkish customs and would like to listen to others who may have gone thru the process for Prusa printer? Thank you.

This page seems to list the customs and I see one other person from Turkey posted there. I just noticed the page after posting here, so I wanted to share with other future prospects:

I bit the bullet and ordered MK3S and MMU2S last Thursday. Prusa shipped it on Friday and now the package cleared customs in Istanbul as it seems. I will post another update if/when I receive the package.

I had no deal with Turkish delivery, only Chinese. It would be interesting to know how they differ.

New updates:

- DHL customs services do not work during weekends. So I had to wait thru weekend.

- I called DHL customs services on Monday morning. They asked the content of the package and questioned if it is a professional equipment or not. I told them it is a hobby kit and they sent me what they call a category 3 form.

- They requested me to sign a form so DHL can represent me at customs. A copy of my citizenship card. A copy of the web pages where the units prices are listed.

- They said it will take them 2-3 days to pull the items from the customs if everything goes well and I should expect to pay 18% tax.

I sent the requested items to DHL via email and now I am waiting for the next steps. Will send another post when I hear from them.

Wow, I guess I’m either spoiled of just sheltered, but I’ve never experienced going through the wringer like that just for a package.

New update, I just received a message from DHL that the customs are done. They sent me a page where I can do the ~18% customs tax payment. I did the payment and now I will be waiting for the delivery. Of course super anxious now 🙂

Ok, now it is offical that I received the kit. To summarize it took Prusa 1 day to make the shipment and it took about 10 days (mostly because of weekends and national holidays) in customs. There was nothing unexpected and no bad experiences so far. Thank you all. I just wanted to have this post for future prospects. Thank you

Hi @can-ozcan I'm very happy to see this topic here, I was thinking of what kind of problems I might have in our customs (you know how frustrating to buy something out of Turkey these days), but after your updates I'm much more ready to get in the adventure 😀

I'm not sure about buying MMU2, my heart is with the opponent actually 🙄 but MK3S is the one I will definitely buy.

Now... where is my credit card?

Hi @ugurguver;

I think you are surely doing the right thing. I am extremely happy with my Prusa MK3S, it is of top quality. I had a few problems but prints are top quality.

To be honest, MMU2 is sitting in its box as I have been busy with business. So it does not seem to be a necessity at this point. Good luck with your adventure and please let us know how it goes.

I'm out of country these days (no not europe or us...), I will buy it now but will need a month or two to get to play with it. But when I have a hand on it I will inform how it goes, but first I still have to find my credit card 🤣

It is finally arrived. I didn't have any problem with customs (paying 150$ to customs...sort of problem but its another subject), but I had big headache with DHL. They hold my package for 1 week because of their system failure. Anyhow it arrived yesterday 🙂

Just for updating for potential Turkish customers my 749$ printer cost me 1000$ while it was on the way to my door (100$ shipment + 150$ customs fee). In summary I bought an original mk3s and a "virtual creality ender 3 pro" with additional cost 😀

I hope my experience with mk3s will make me forget about that virtual ender 🙂

I did not order, but it would be very interesting to know the experience of others. How expensive and what problems can be.

This is a thread specifically about ordering into Turkey. Your profile seems to indicate if you were ordering, you would be ordering into the eastern US. Please start a new thread asking your concerns if you are not concerned about the issues importing from Prague to Turkey.

Thanx, and welcome to the forums.
