Is there a better source for Prusament ?

Amazon is asking $68.00 per roll for PETG which is more than double other reputable brands.  Is this for real pricing or just a gouging reseller and is there a better source?

Avoid the price gougers on Amazon. They're just opportunists hoping for suckers. Prusa has set up a reduced shipping rate on their online store. If you order 2 spools, the base price per spool is cheaper and, even with shipping, it's still cost competitive with the normal Amazon rate. I just tossed 2 spools of Prusament PLA into my shopping cart @ $22.49 (with my 10% discount for printer purchase) and with $13.14 shipping, the total is $58.12, or under $30 per spool to get it to my doorstep. This is competitive with most of the high-quality filament prices. Just break your orders into quantities of 2 spools for maximum value.

Don't pay the Ebay and Amazon Prusament price gougers!  Starve a rat today!

The people here pointed me to Filament PM as a good second source of the Prusament silver-gray that comes with the printers.  The Filament PM on-line store here in the States does not use the brand name Prusament for it, but says 'made in the Czech republic' and having used it for a while I'm 99.99999% sure that it's the same product.  Price is reasonable too, US$40-something for a two kilo spool.

That's the good news.  The bad news is that the 2 kilo spool I got was not the expected 'fat' spool of normal size, but a HUGE honking spool with a large open center which would not fit anywhere I could feed from it to the printer.  I ended up respooling it on two normal spools, which was a pain.  Fortunately I have enough of it now that I don't have to worry about it for a while.

I agree with bobstro that Prusa is competitive and reasonably convenient for filament.  I recently ordered a spool of their PC Blend and it hit the front porch here in the States less than a week after ordering.

Technically, the silver-gray that comes with the printers (or at least did with mine, I don't know if they've changed recently) is NOT Prusament. It isn't even sold on Prusa's store as Prusament. They just rebranded FilamentPM's filament as "Prusa" filament before Prusa started making their own and calling their own product Prusament. Just a clarification. 😉

I will take my answer back: Amazon sells FilamentOne Red Glint.  Pretty awesome stuff.

@snaslund

Have you considered having a chat with the people on the Prusa Chat line and asking if you can have your account updated to show the discount , now that you have bought your printer?
