I think I can see a Raspberry Pi in your photo. This can control a relais via its GPIO. I am sure the control software running on the Pi (Klipper?) can take care of that.

Yes, may be this is not very good for you, the next one has his own intelligent microcontrollers, watchdogs, , security messages between devices, and timeouts no longer than two seconds, safety exists, I was last 34 years working on that

I thought we were talking about controlling a Prusa MK3 or MK4, did not expect you were not. 🙂

Another option is to poll printer status over PrusaLink API to see what it does and react based on that.

Another option is to listen to the syslog messages the printer generated and also react on that but this may be a bit more complicated to implement ( for example convert syslog messages to mqtt events).

If you have Home Assistant, there is an integration for PrusaLink. You can then create automations there like for all the other things in Home Assistant.
