Preface: work in the Graphic Design department of a Govt facility. Some of the projects we do I've requested materials (letters, shapes, etc.) from one of the departments have have large $180k+ machines...but it tends to be a hassle. Over small talk, my boss' boss suggested we look into purchasing one.  At home I use an OctoPrint setup, but here that's TOTALLY out the window. Same with SD cards.  Not only is there a hassle of getting the device approved, I'd have to jump through hoops for the software too. I saw someone somewhere else mention Pronterface (sp?) to be able to just connect via USB...which would feasibly be the ONLY way I could use this...does anyone have experience with this?  Ideally, I could just run PrusaSlicer and call it a day, but I realize I'm going down a wormhole of red tape and restrictions and wanted to start off with an option I'm familar with.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

What about a wireless sd card permanently installed (glued/soldered) so that it cannot be removed..?

Cheerio,

Probably not, depends on government restrictions and open purchase.  I know that Fargo Additive Manufacturing Equipment 3D who makes the Lulzbot has a GSA account, along with U.S. government contracts.

I didn't get why SD cards are out but USB is in. Maybe you meant USB as in direct connection with computer, as opposed to USB thumdrive. If you are looking at direct connection to computer then if doesn't need to be USB only, it could also be Ethernet right.
