How would you publish a remix of your own 3D model on Printables?

A while ago, i published my Cartridge display stand for the Nintendo Switch dock as a 3D model on Printables. Since then, I've gotten a few more games, and today I decided I needed to redesign the model to hold another tier of game cartridges.

I used my original Fusion 360 project, and made the modifications needed to it, and am now test printing the new version.

Now, I'm wondering how I should publish it when the print is finished, seeing as how it is a remix, but also my own original model. It looks like I can only select one of the options on the publishing page. Any suggestions on how to proceed?

Just edit your original model. Add something in the description that explains what the update does. Maybe add new photos. If there's a reason why someone may want to continue to use the old version, keep those STLs. maybe in a separate folder.

The main advantage for you is that you printables points are additive and not split, the view/like/download count will be higher. For everyone else it's one less model to sort out in the search results, and they see the version history of your model.

That's actually a great suggestion, thanks. There might be a reason for people to download the old model, but as you said, I definitely could include both files in the same post

- Update current model page,
- add it as new file (files or folder ) with _v2 suffix, move old files to _v1 folder
- update description with the information what's new in v2 (changelog)
- add photos with v2 label, provide photo showing differences between the models in red circles if applicable, possibly with already printed model

See my GitHub and printables.com for some 3d stuff that you may like.
