How to re-build an MK3S after making the MK4S upgrade?

Hi All,

I don't regret the upgrade in terms of the quality of the MK4S - I regret I didn't just buy the MK4S to have two printers available - I was not aware of this until halfway through dissasembling it.

Now I have an "almost" MK3S laying there in pieces.

Sourcing parts from Prusa is; PSU 100 €, Frame and body parts: 200 €, Heatbed: 100 € plus what not.. Or almost the price of the printer I originally bought.

Any advice or guides to do this without the expensive re-sourcing of basically the same I had originally?

I have aluminum profiles available I could cut out to build the frame, I would still need the heatbed and PSU, but that's OK.

Anyone in the same boat?

You can buy clone parts from different places on the web.  I think there are Prusa clones that are quite cheap.  I saw many before I purchased my MK3S+

As for upgrading, the extra parts and what would be left is why I have not upgraded.  Looking at the Core one.

Yes, I did see some of these after looking online..

But now I’m more inclined actually getting the Core One and another 3.9 upgrade kit.. That would give me the frame back at least.. My printhead from the old MK3S looks a bit meh after having printed 50 km of filament anyways.

It’s hard to see from the kit, but does anyone know if the CoreOne kit comes with a new PSU?
Maybe I should reach out to support to see what they can do to package something that makes sense.

No, it re-uses the power supply from the Mk4s.

After I did the upgrade from the mk3s to the mk4s, I have seen how many parts are left.

So I bought some clone parts (bed, build plate, bear-frame), a meanwell power supply and rebuilt the mk3 with these.

Later on I upgraded the mk3s to the mk3.5.

So now I have my mk4s, the mk3.5 (with the clone parts and the bear-frame) and the core one.
