How to prevent my models from being shared off Printables to other sites

So, the idea is to prevent others from sharing my models to other sites, such as Thingiverse and , makerworld, etc.. If I want my models shared there I will do it. What license do I choose? The models will be free for anyone to download and print for themselves, but that is it. No remixing, no commercial, must acknowledge myself as the designer.  BUT I do not see this as an option under CC. I believe all the variations of the license allow copy and distribution.

How can I prevent this type of sharing?

Thanks

Rusty

You can’t. It doesn’t matter what licence you choose. Licence restrictions are an honour system anyway. If you upload it to anywhere then as a practical matter it is not under any sort of control anymore. Accept that or don’t upload it.

yeah, I get that it is a honor system, but If I wanted a site, take makerworld for example, to remove my model that someone else uploaded, at least I could say the model was not to be shared. I have no intention of charging for the model, just don't want to be fielding support issues from a remix.

https://creativecommons.org/share-your-work/cclicenses/

The closest is CC BY-NC-ND  but its all just smoke in the wind.   Nothing is enforceable unless you want to get courts and lawyers involved.  Which means to the average person its all means nothing, hence my previous statement.

You could put watermarks across the photos, if it says printables across the middle then it is less likely to be uploaded to thingiverse. But if someone, prints and rephotographs it, practically there is little you can do.

I've uploaded models without watermarks and if someone wants to steel them, such is life.

Unfortunately you're dealing with a small part of the population that don't give a an eff. You just have to accept the fact there are people out there that are protected by anonymity and no licence will stop them. They will continue to steal other people's work when there are no consequences, this is the rule of life, same in the outside world. If somebody commits a crime and there is no punishment then certain unscrupulous people in society take advantage of that. That is why prisons exist all around the world, it's called deterrence, but it doesn't work for everyone.

MakerWorld is the worst site for outright theft. I've had people over there totally steal my entire designs, claim them as their own, and even use all of my pictures and copy paste full descriptions and instructions of models without any change or attribution whatsoever. It's crazy stuff but what can you do? It's a Chinese owned site and let's face it they are not exactly known for their moral standards of intellectual property now are they?

ALL of my designs only exist on Printables now. I used to manage an account on Thingiverse a long time ago but that site just became untenable for me. So if anyone comes across any of my designs on any other site, other than Printables, then you know it has been stolen.

The thing is I don't mind people downloading my designs and publishing them on other sites just so long as they make it known that it's my design by declaring attribution and share links to the original, and to not steal my photos outright and copy model descriptions word for word, sheesh!
