Help sorting collection

Hi strangers!

I wanted to log in here to ask a bit of help. I am going through a friends hobby stuff, and came across some boxes (pic related)

Part of one of your kits, no doubt. He also has 3 different 3d-printers (or just the decks and gantry's) around, which each look different, but still unknown to me.

My question is how can I tell what is valuable, and may I ask some help identifying which parts are present, and such? I know it is a bit broad, but if there is some help, I can get more photos and go back and forth to his place to find missing parts. My goal is to help his widow realize as much as possible from the sale of the 3dprinter collection he had.

Thanks for your minutes.

RE: Help sorting collection

From the one shot of the bagged pre-printed parts, and the motor trio, that looks like that collection of boxes adds up to a 3D printer.  There is probably an assembly manual too.  If you can find the full set (the manual will have a bill of materials you can use as a checklist near the beginning of the manual) - it's worth either around $300 or around $800 and change retail, depending on which printer it is (and those are just the two up to date modules).  If anything is missing, the kit turns into a pile of parts that a hobbyist or printer enthusiast might buy as a box-of-parts.

Break that down - aftermarket prices are not retail prices because the support relationship disappears - so think half as a bottom range, and if you want to move the pile out quickly.

To remove doubts - I myself would be interested in a kit if it's a recent model for a deal price (I ain't a rich man).  I have a MK3S now, which I built from the kit.  Or think about donating it to a local school's shop program.

Thanks, Mr. Rogers.

I contacted my local 'maker space' who use another brand. (they stick to one brand as a standard) and it turns out it is a lot less valuable than I thought. I will likely pass it along to a neighbourhood kid, and see if he can make sense out of all of it.

@nwtd

Excellent plan.  You might even inquire at the local high school robotics club.  What an excellent learning opportunity if it is complete kit.  I would be willing to make an offer if it is a complete kit, and I will cover shipping from the get-go.
