RE: Has anyone received any orders from late April

My orange/black kit with a smooth PEI sheet shipped today (18-Jun).  It was ordered on 11-May so 5.43 weeks to ship.   Prusa didn't make the Thursday FedEx delivery cutoff so it is scheduled to arrive at my US address on Monday.  Spreadsheet has been updated.

Based on data I was seeing in the spreadsheet over a week ago on simple kits, it appeared to me that my kit would be shipped near the end of June.  Ship data from this week was much better and seemed to be improving.  Someone commented in this thread that Prusa's printer order volume is way up.  Scaling up the supply chain and manufacturing operations is not an instantaneous process.  It does look like Prusa is making the effort to meet demand.

Congrats on getting your notice! However, having ordered on the 9th, I am a tad upset to see that Prusa is not shipping according to first in-first out.

You are right though, the pace seems to be picking up, at least.

They must be going through operations Hades right now.  My guess is there are multiple teams preparing shipments so it's roughly FIFO.  Like I mentioned before, Prusa must be palletizing US shipments to get better shipping rates.  Some simple orders may get pulled ahead a bit to balance out a shipment.  This is all speculation on my part but I have seen other companies do this including ones I have worked for.

My order from 5/4 (mk3s/smooth PEI sheet) shipped yesterday (2020-06-17), so approximately 6 weeks.

When people post shipping dates can you please include destination country, and extras. Like @joerepac said it might be FIFO when possible, but logistics for different countries and parts in the order might change things.

Like I ordered on May 6th to the USA, with an extra sheet and some filament. But nothing yet, so I try to not get upset when I see people ordered on 5/11 and have shipped.

I just wish we could get a little more official info from Prusa about the logistics. Like why some people are getting shipping quite a bit sooner than others.

I mean, if I know that the extra sheet or filament is going to hold up the shipment for another week or two I would probably pay for shipping and break the order into two orders and just get printer here and the rest later. But maybe they don't want a bunch of change orders either.

The not knowing is probably the harder than waiting. 🙂

I think it also matters on Black/Orange and smooth/texture/both.  Black isn't as common and IIRC the texture sheets were in short supply for a period of time.

Yeah I noticed this too. I’ve only seen orders to the US get fast tracked, this is based on the Forum, Google Sheet and Reddit. Seems like a fair bet that their palletising US shipments, even more so now that air freight cost more due to the huge reduction in passenger flights.

@samfromdownunder

Here's the the 4-1-1 on how we get raped in Australia.

Customs handling fee - $88

Shipping and Insurance - No Duty, 10% GST

Printer - Duty exempt, 10% GST

Anything else (filament, build sheets, etc) - 5% Duty, 10 GST

DHL disbursement fee - $22

So there is $110 just in BS fees before we get to paying the actual duty and GST. Oh...and then DHL charge you 1.1% on paying by vredit card.

When you see the status change to duty being due, call the DHL Duty office and pay over the phone. Don't wait for the e-mail and pay online/via the automated phone service. It adds 1-2 days to the wait time.

You can't avoid paying GST on the shipping and insurance, but there is absolutely no justification for DHL quoting a figure nearly 3 times the actual charge.

And to all Aussies, to save yourself a chunk of coin; do your shopping on the site in Polish Zloty. The Aussie Dollar SUCKS the big ones against the USD, GBP or the EUR. It cut ~$170 out of my order.

People are putting their country in the spreadsheet mate. 🙂

RE: Has anyone received any orders from late April

Update: I ordered 2 MK3s Kits on May 4th. Last week Live Chat said it would ship this week. Next day I got an email saying it would be 2 weeks. Last night I got an email saying they would ship soon and they are sorry that I am disappointed (I was still polite with all communications). Last night both of my order where updated to Shipped and I received tracking information (estimated delivery date to the USA: Monday).

People are in the spreadsheet mate. 🙂

I checked it out awhile, and it looked like either a lot of old orders were not being updated, or stuff from mid April still had not shipped. And I got depressed and never went back. 🙂 I will look again and add mine. And try to remember to update it when I get more info.

That would indeed make sense, except that when you look at the google spreadsheets, you can see older orders are unfulfilled  while identical newer orders are shipped.

For instance, there's an order from May 11th for an Orange Kit with PEI sheet that was shipped to USA today (18th), while identical orders placed on May 6th have not. Granted its possible some people forget to update the spreadsheet once they get their updates.

There's also a more complicated order involving both sheets that was placed on May 18th that shipped yesterday. So yeah, seems to have some random stuff going on.

RE: Has anyone received any orders from late April

I knew I should not have looked at the spreadsheet. Not sure if it's a typo but says someone in USA ordered nearly the exact same thing as me on May 18th (I ordered on My 6th) and it's been delivered already. Then there is one from the 16th of May.

That's pretty annoying.

EDIT: @85lime yeah I just read your post after I posted. That's upsetting. Same country, same order, two-three weeks after my order and it's arrived.

Most of the April orders left are assembled printers. I ordered May 6th and still nothing. Watching people that ordered almost 2 weeks after get their deliveries already is definitely not cool. Orders do seem to be moving faster (just not mine)...

@rac-1974

That was when I checked a week or so ago. Yeah looks like a lot of the kits have caught up now from April. I assume ours will ship soon.

@85lime

No offense if the people who ordered on May 16th or 18th are here. But maybe they were being buttheads? If they kept chatting, and e-mailing constantly maybe they got theirs bumped up? That's all I can think off. In that case I am not that kind of person anyway and will just wait. Still does not mean I like seeing them get their first for what ever reason.

Yeah it’s really frustrating seeing people that ordered the 16th and 18th have already received their printers while ours are still stuck in Prague.

You can't avoid paying GST on the shipping and insurance, but there is absolutely no justification for DHL quoting a figure nearly 3 times the actual charge.

Not to really defend DHL here - but the $88 and $22 are set by Border Force. $22 is the agreed cost (between government and logistics companies) to shippers for doing the tax-collecting work, and the $88 is the fee that Border Force charges for doing the package inspection, etc.. It sucks, but the people you should be angry with aren't DHL (but it's a neat trick by the department that points blame at 'not them').

What is DHLs fault is that they are so slow at getting the paperwork to you - Fedex and Toll are much faster and can get you the invoice with details pretty much as soon as the item is held. DHL can take days before they're able to generate an invoice showing you line items.

Be careful reading too much into order numbers.  The one from 16-May has an old order number.

 @85lime

The order placed on 11-May and shipped on 18-June was mine.
