Forum traffic seems light

Given the tens of thousands of printers Prusa has shipped over the years, I'm surprised this isn't a more bustling place. It may be that there are so many subforums for the different models and different aspects of those models that I don't notice the total traffic. Like all forums, traffic will go up and down during certain parts of the year, but it seems like days can go by with very little new activity. Or, is there less actual printing going on than I would have expected? Or, so much printing that nobody has time to talk! Some forums I frequent will barely have a pulse until a new model comes out, then all heck breaks loose. Perhaps Prusa needs to trickle some things out, even if not major releases. Just curious what people think. 😀

I owned an MK4 (and subsequently the S) for a couple of years. Then I upgraded to a Core One in early July. Had issues with it that support couldn't solve so I ended up here. And stayed. My guess is most Prusa owners don't know about the forums?

Hi everyone, I've never posted on this forum before, but the traffic seems light. I think because asking the AI is faster. I mean, for the little things... Furthermore, I do it every day at work. If I don't find any solution, I'll try to look at the Prusa forum, but only if I have time to search. However, I found some gold pearls in past years threads.Hi everyone, I've never posted on this forum before, but the traffic seems light. I think because asking the AI is faster. If you  click at the Prusa world map on top right of the homepage,  you’ll see that there’re 84K users there. I don’t know if Prusa enters every printer that they sell in that map ?. That would mean that Prusa sold 84k machines over the years. A figure that doesn’t fits with the statement that they sell 10K per month. According to this, the total number of printers sold should exceed one million right now.

Anyway, even if they’ve sold only 84000 printers, you realize that in this forum the number of regular posters is scarce. There're only a few users posting almost every day ( you two, for instance). Other people posts only when they have some problem/question and I guess that most registered users never wrote a single message. All considered, probably there only a few dozens of users with regular activity at any moment,

As Hyiger says, the majority of people owning Prusa printers either don’t know about this place or they don’t bother to enter.

I don't think Prusa adds to the map at all- you have to do it yourself. It also didn't work for near to forever, so I'd guess the 84K number is a tiny fraction of users. I've heard the 10K number before and, given all the competition right now, I'm guessing shipments are nowhere near that.

It's hard to believe users wouldn't know about the forums, since there are manufacturer forums for so many other things. It would just be a given. OTOH, phones might be the problem. It's hard to really participate on a phone, compared to using my mechanical switch keyboard and big monitor.

Finally, the demand for drones is high, so there should be significant large scale print farms involved. I'm guessing the people building those don't have a public presence at all. 😉

RE: Forum traffic seems light

The Bambu Labs forums are quiet as well. Also my impression is that it's the same 4-5 prolific posters (who seem to hate each other) always stepping in the flex.

Expanding on my previous post, I consider myself very tech savvy. It's my profession and I've been online since the BBS and CompuServe days. I bought my MK4 in July 2023 but didn't know (or care really) about these forums because I wasn't interested enough about 3D printing nor did I have any issues with the MK4. Same with the MK4S upgrade 1 year later. It was July 2025 when I had so many issues with the Core One post setup: grounding crash, bent gantry, load cell interference and was then subsequently pulling my hair out with support trying to get these resolved. The only resolution was to come here.

Also, it was intimidating at first posting here. There was one guy in particular (since gone) who made it his mission to step on every single one of my posts making it so uncomfortable that I was close to deleting my account.  I've also seen a few once prolific posters basically get bored (I assume) and just stop posting. After all, once you seen your 100th "Why is my Nextruder making a clicking sound?" it starts to get tedious to reply.

Another issue could simply be dilution as well as territoriality. There is: Reddit, FaceBook, Discord, Prusa User Forum. As for the later, I've noticed that the people who hang on Discord seem to think of the Forums as a "rival" with an us versus them mentality.

Reddit seems to get most of the traffic. The users that make it here tend to have some problem solving skills and provide/receive constructive feedback. Since Prusa uses Reddit for their announcements, they leave me no choice.

This sums up Reddit

Seems I can't edit my posts... again... (forum software)

I'll also add that my local astronomy club has 368 members. Twice a month (weather permitting) we meet at the top of a local mountain to get out the telescopes and socialize. It's generally the same 5-10 people who show up. Once a month we have club meetings and maybe 30 show up. It's the same with every hobby really.

Ha! I live where all celestial events are clouded over. I built a nice 10" dob reflector years ago but am getting too old to drag it out. I hadn't thought of the competition with other forums.  I used to hate Reddit, but the content there has improved over the last few years. Discord is a bit of a mystery to me; too dumb to figure out how to use it, though I do try periodically. Facebook AI robots deleted me after 11 years, reason not exactly clear, so I put a curse on them and refuse to open another account. And hey, the last thing I ever want to do is make somebody unhappy. Please kick me squarely in the butt if that happens. This stuff should be fun!

RE: Forum traffic seems light

I own 7 telescopes in 2 states: 4 in California and 3 in Virginia. So I suppose I need to downsize...

The reason I got into 3D printing was so I could create my own brackets and adapters that were either impossible to find, stupidly expensive or both. So I bought an Ender 3 and later junked it for the MK4. And the rest... as they say... is "history"

Discord takes a bit of patience, especially having to wade through all the memes. Reddit... Let's just that every time I hang out there, I leave knowing less then when I entered.

That's certainly true. Plus, just too many people either don't know anymore how to google or don't bother doing it. I for one just don't respond anymore to questions that could have been easily answered with a simple google search.

Wow, that's a lot of scopes! I was one of the founders of a cooled CCD camera company, but that's a story for another time. One of my main hobbies is photography. I like to make adapters to attach crazy thing #1 to improbable thing #2. What I've found is that the Core One can print fine threads you'd think were impossible. They may not look great because of the layers, but statistically they have enough material in the right places to work perfectly. Here's a holder for some measurement microscope objectives I printed, but the important part is the adapter in the center that fit their M26 x 0.75 thread.

OK, here isn't a photo, because media attachment seems to be broken at the moment. Just imagine a T-adapter with a printed M26 insert.

I can already print PPA-CF and PPS-CF but not on my Core One... PPA-CF is possible with a 290° nozzle but just barely.

Yes, those of us who don't have a H2X, are stuck waiting a few more weeks. Say shipping in June, check it multi times a day.

Perhaps the forums light because the majority don’t have any problems that they need help with,..

Most forums for the products are like hospitals, you usually see only people with problems and those people usually come and go. The vase of people writing something else is usually very small but stays for years, until they ditch the hobby or work that relates directly to it.

See my GitHub and printables.com for some 3d stuff that you may like.

RE: Forum traffic seems light

I'm a newcomer to these forums and have been (attempting) to use them for a week now. Currently I can't post images, view notifications, like posts or mark a reply as "best answer". The hardware help post I made ,( a silly error putting together my Core One kit), ground to a halt after my latest post got stuck behind moderation for three days (and counting).

I'm sure things run more smoothly much of the time but as a new user I ended up resorting to discord despite my general aversion to it.
