Firmware update issues and comments to share
Hi all,
After spending 3 days trying to get my printer running again I wanted to share my findings to help others that are experiencing the same errors. Bottom line for me is the firmware update on March 2 v 3.12.2 caused several issues.
First my Hardware:
- MK3S+
- MMU2S
Firmware [flashed the firmware 2 times during debug to make sure the flash was not corrupt]:
- MK3S+= 3.12.2
- MMU2S= 3.12.2
Errors [any one or more of the following happened to me and most of the time in the middle of the print]:
- FW Failure and/or
- MINTEMP Nozzle
The fix:
- MK3S+= downgraded the firmware to version 3.11.0
- MMU2S= downgraded the firmwarte to version 3.11.0
Result: Fixed all issues and errors
Now I have no idea if it's the combination of the printer and the MMU or if it is broader than that. What was interesting is while trying to fix the MINTEMP Nozzle error using the troubleshooting documents on the site and I wiggled the wire to the hotend thermistor to see if there was a short it did sometimes disconnect. But as soon as I downgraded the firmware wiggling the wire no longer experienced a short. I can only think that I may have an issue with a slight short but version 3.11.0 is more forgiving then 3.12.0. I will purchase a new Hotend thermistor E3D [ https://www.prusa3d.com/product/hotend-thermistor-e3d/ ] when it comes back in stock to make sure I don't have too much downtime should I have a short which might get worse over time.
