Firmware suggestion: Maintenance intervals
Hi 🙂
It would be a nice feature to get a maintenance warning after x hours of printing.
For example to retighten all the screws, checking belt tension, cleaning and oiling all shafts and so on. Just like in cars that demand an oil change or inspection every x miles/kilometres.

This would be fine for people like me who still exclusively use the SD card. But if someone exclusively uses Octoprint AFAIK the print-time counter in the printer doesn't increment. Though, I guess at that point the PM reminder would need to be an Octoprint plugin...

Please change the bearings after 1000km or one year. Whatever comes first 😆.
Now a little more serious. I'm checking my printers all the time, especially if I start a longer print. In general there is no maintenance interval for the parts. Keep the rods clean and lubricated all the time. In dusty/dirty environment you might need to do it on daily base. Same applies to fans. Make sure cables are moving freely. Any mechanical wear, you will see on your prints and you can decide when it's time to replace it. Electronic parts do not require any maintenance.
I would suggest you make a check list, print it, place it visible near the printer and do it before every print. All the wear and tear on mechanical parts depends on the temperature/lubrication/load. It's for everybody different. Printing full speed @38C heavy objects vs. slow in quiet mode, light objects @18C can make a huge difference (like x10).

BTW: Just found something interesting in the Marlin 2.0 firmware:
