Finished Textures

I have been trying to understand texturing of the first layer. I had bought the texture plate when I got my printer but havent had much luck yet. I know the front bezel of the printer is supposedly textured by the Prusa texture plate.  I recently have been testing a few companies for quality to print higher volumes than I care to deal with. One was from China and one was from USA. The print uses PETG. When I got them back, they have a very nice texture on the first layer. I find it hard to believe that is printed. The textures look almost identical  from China company and the USA company. My first guess is they take the priint and press it against some textured hot plate to give the uniform appearance. Is this how they do it? If not, what iis the method to get it looking so good.

Attached are some pictures of the texture. Note, I didnt request the texture, it was done automatically by the printing company.

PlA on a textured build plate on a Mk3S

More pla

the underside of a Purge block for Palette2S Pro also PLA

Some people say PLA doesn't stick to textured build plates

I don't appear to have any pictures of PETG First layers on textured build plates.
but you can get good results

RE: Finished Textures

These pictures look like good old textured sheets. You said you haven't had much luck yet but didn't explain what issues you're running into. If it's adhesion, make sure you recalibrate your live z for the textured sheet. They are about 0.4 mm thinner than the smooth sheet and thus live z will need to be about 0.400 more negative. Also, I found that in general filament likes to be squeezed a bit more into the textured sheets. I found the Prusa textured sheet somewhat temperamental so I've been using that BCZAMD gold sheets (they're on Amazon). They have worked great with PLA, PETG, ASA etc. Their texture is a bit coarser than the Prusa sheets but I like it.

And last, when you say "textured" we assume you really mean the textured sheets, not the satin coated sheet. It's also kind textured but much less so than the real textured sheet. The satin sheets are awesome(I use them for almost all my prints) but you're not going to get the texture of the Prusa original parts.

RE: Finished Textures

Below are some pics of bottom surfaces printed in PETG on the 3S+ with the Prusa textured sheet:

For comparison, these parts were printed on the same machine using the Prusa satin sheet:

Hope this is helpful.

Cheers

RE: Finished Textures

Thank you for every ones input. Seeing real prints from the 3S+ definitely helps seeing it is possible and consistent with what I am seeing from other print houses. I have the textured plate, I just need to get it to work which honestly I havent spent much time doing. Now that I know it can do the job I will dig into it more.
