Filament question

I'm new to 3D printing (just received a Mini+ a few weeks back) having great fun so far.  I have some Prusament PLA and PETG filament that works great using standard temps.  I wanted to buy some this side of the ocean so tried Overture PETG; worked fine.  Got a roll of Hatchbox PLA (Yellow - spec'd at 180C t0 210C) from Amaz.. and the problems began.  First layer adjust was impossible (using default PLA setting), the stuff would hardly come out of the nozzle; what came out didn't stick and was gooey (yes surface was clean - alcohol, etc).  Jammed in head twice; did a cold pull to make sure everything clean.  Switched to printing the first layer of the PRUSA logo, and very little stuck.  Cranked temp up to (@225) and it started working a little better but not much.  All the while I tried various Z heights.  Went crazy and cranked the temperature up to 235 and it started printing perfectly.  Printed the logo, printed a frog, worked great.  Is it normal for non-prusa PLA to require such high temperatures?  Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

235 sounds unusually high. You said you did cold pulls so clogs shouldn't be an issue. If you go back to other filament and it works fine, it's pretty obvious it should be the filament.

You can also print a temperature tower (eg https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/39810) to dial your filament temp in.

RE: Filament question

That printing with higher temps with pla, I had the same , the nozzle was partially clogged.

Move extruder higher, extrude by hand, the filament should come out straight and thick, not thin.

Do a cold pull a few times and or change nozzle.

Do the other filament work?

Make a first layer and make a picture so we can see the first layer.

If you read the forum to get more info, clean bed with dish soap is a  lot better then alcohol.

Thanks Peter, yes I have two Prusament PLA that work just fine.  Also 4 rolls of PETG that are fine.  Only issue is with the Hatchbox PLA (first layer at default PLA temp picture was included before).  I've performed 2 cold pulls, nozzle is not jammed just printed all day today with PETG no problem.  I wash with dish soap and water.  Just this one filament and it works at 235C.  I won't worry about, just use it up at the higher temperature and not buy anymore.
