Fault in slicer or .stl file???

Hi all.

I have an issue with a model which I am trying to Print on a MK3S using PETG.  I have had the printer a couple of years and have not run into it before.  On a certain layer I get a 'wider' layer than the rest of the vertical shell.  I have attached photos to try to explain it better.  The 'wider' layer does not show up in sketchup or prusa slicer, however show up on the print, in the same spot each time I try to print it.  It seems to be on the same height as a horizontal shell on the other side of the vertical shell.  Any help would be appreciated.

I have tried everything I can think of, included an online .stl repair service.  I feel like its related to the way the model is sliced. (see picture)

Cheers

Glen

Use the search term 'buldge' on here well known common problem.  Several lengthy threads about it.  Such as this one https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/prusaslicer/mitigate-wall-bulge/

Thank you both for the reply. A pity thats its a known issue with no real resolution.  Im going to try fuzzy skin on the walls to hide it for now, hopefully that works.

RE: Fault in slicer or .stl file???

I agree it would be best if it could be solved in the slicer software. However, second best, I still tend to look at printed product as some sort of raw product, to be refined manually in many cases. On plain walls it´s easy to smooth a line by acetone (on ASA) or with a hand plane (if the outer wall perimeter is not too thin).

I try to give answers to the best of my ability, but I am not a 3D printing pro by any means, and anything you do you do at your own risk. BTW: I have no food for…
