Failed Print: Massive PLA Ball snaps thermistor cable and damage to heater cable
(Prusa i3 MK3S)
Questions
1) Do you agree it looks like I need a new Heater Cable and Thermistor? Should I plan to replace any other parts?
2) The PLA ball seemed to squeeze and solidify between the fan shroud and the extruder. The fan shroud seems a bit weaker. That's not mission critical though is it? Maybe I could attempt to print a new one from ABS once this is all fixed?
3) Looks like the Prusa Shop has neither of these in stock. Is that correct?
4) Can they be purchased elsewhere? I don't want dodgy copies, but if I could source them locally (UK) that would be great.

Hi Mat,
it does look like Prusa are out of stock at the moment
the parts you want are sourced by E3D, they are based in the UK, buy have resellers around the world,
they sell several types of heater and thermostat.
they list "Prusa Specific' items which come with the correct length and correct Plug. in addition to more universal alternatives which may not have the correct plug.
Here is a link to the resellers page.

for the Mk3 Printer series you are looking for a 24 volt, 40 watt heater and a Semitec 100k ohm cartridge thermistor
Note, these items are not polarity conscious, there is no + or -
these are also available on Amazon, and Ebay.
regards Joan
