"Fabric Texture" - decorative surface

I had an interesting fault with my extruder that led to it producing a very satisfying pattern on the first few layers! The extrusion was randomly under extruding causing streaks in the infill. With the first few layers being semi translucent this showed up as a ""woven" type effect that looked very much like woven fabric. I would love to be able to use this decorative feature in future prints. Perhaps someone in the community would know how to achieve this? Btw, its hard to show in the photo but in person the effect is very noticeable.

OK, that's a change, usually we are trying to ged rid of it...

Your part is warping and lifting off the build-sheet, the pattern is usually a sign that first layer adhesion is poor and the print is likely to fail either by detaching from the build sheet or by the nozzle crashing into high spots ...

You really would be best advised to try to get rid of it.

Cheerio,

The cause for the intermittent extrusion was a loose connection to the extruder stepper motor. But I feel it would be a great additional feature to create this fabric like texture.

IT would a simple piece of script that intermittently/randomly under extrudes during infill for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th layers of infill. Of course you would not want this on the first layer.
