Email Notifications of Replies to Topics No Longer Working?
I used to get an email every time someone responded to a topic I initiated or had responded to. I'm not super active on the forums, and just figured the topics I had been following had gone quiet. I revisited one today, and discovered that someone had posted a query directed to me several months ago, and there had been a couple of posts since. I never received any emails about them.
If I go to the topic, it offers me the option to "unsubscribe", which I assume means I should still be getting notifications. I've checked my spam folders, and there is no sign of them.
Any idea what might be going on & how to fix it?

I have observed the same thing with the notification system on the forum. The same happens with the notification for messages on Printables. My guess is the notifications won't get processed if the server system is under a heavy load.

Mail servers don't normally work like that. Out going mail normally gets written to a temp directory then when the server has time get sent, so when they are overloaded you get delays not fails

Yes, I know that. But the fact remains that sometimes you get your notification - delayed or not - and sometimes not at all. It should not happen, but it does.
Perhaps the processing gets interrupted before the mail server part, we all have seen that the forum system can be very slow sometimes. But this is only speculation as I do not know the setup of their forum system.

If the forums are active then it may generate significant amount of emails and this may be treated as some hosting companies as spam and thus it can drop such emails.

Well, the good news is that I have just received 4 notifications for this topic! So the system appears to work on new topics, but not entirely reliably for older ones. The topic where I didn't receive any notifications is this one:
It is up to 22 pages. It's possible that when a topic gets that long, there may be a lot of people getting notifications all at once. That could trigger an anti-spam threshold someplace when they try to send them out.
At least it is functional at some level, which means I don't have to go digging for a setting buried someplace to get it working.
