Download count incremented only when "all model files" are downloaded?
I just noticed when I downloaded 2 of 10 files for a certain print (it had 5 variations, and I only needed one of them), the download count for the print didn't go up. I waited a few moments, refreshed the page a couple of times, but the download count remained at zero. I then downloaded "all model files", and the download count immediately increased by one.
Is this intentional behavior or an oversight? It is quite common that a print contains several variations of the model. For example, there might be different sizes of the model, or with different logos, etc. So tens of users might download some of the files for a specific print, but the download count of that print remains at zero if no one downloaded the zip file containing all files.
I think it would be better if the download count would increase when a user downloads at least one of the files of a print. Of course, we could create different prints for every variation of our creations (Spool Holder for 70mm spools, Spool Holder for 80mm spools, etc.), but at least I prefer it when such variations are bundled in one print.
RE: Download count incremented only when "all model files" are downloaded?
I think users that upload a "Print" with multiple versions, sizes, etc. have potential down-loaders in mind, not rewards. By putting everything in one or two places it is easier for you to find the version or size that suits you.
Which is better? 1 print with 20 objects, or 20 prints with 1 object? Depends on how you look at it. As a potential down-loader I prefer to have 1 place where I can pick some or all of what is offered. If you are less concerned about potential down-loaders of your product and making it easier for them, then 20 individual prints is the way to go.
Also, the owners of a site always want bigger numbers and frankly 20 is bigger than 1.
Personally, if I searched on widgets and one person had one 'Print' with a dozen different widgets and there were a dozen single widget 'Prints' by anther person, the one with a dozen bundled widgets gets my attention first. My perception is that these people care!
So, I agree that downloading a single object file from a "bundle" should count.

@kennd In your example downloading the 20 pieces separately should account for 20 downloads. Should downloading "all model files" also be considered as 20 downloads ?

Why not?

@kennd I'd rather have printable models with the smallest number of parts instead of 2000 part puzzles.

Any number of downloads by a single user from a multipart post should count as one. Otherwise unscrupulous designers may explode their uploads to maximise rewards rather than aggregating them to aid printability.
Here is a single aggregated build plate, one of three from a design I was planning to upload soon. To build the model will require at least three large aggregated files. I intend to provide individual part files for spare/replacement parts.
I could break this into around 200 parts and upload them individually ....
But however you do it you only get one buildable object. It should count as one download. 'Though with the amount of dross flooding the site these days it's probably not worth uploading as it'll just be buried.
Cheerio,

Not all uploads with multiple objects are a collection of parts. I am preparing 2 uploads right now. Each "print" will have about 6-8 objects in it. Each and every one of them is a complete model that can be printed and used on it's own or in conjunction with other models in either of the 2 bundles. Each model is part of a complete, and evolving system, where the user can create their own custom configuration. So, I think bundling them together is the right thing to do. so that anyone that wants to download more than one doesn't have to wade through all the dross. User's will also know that they are 100% printable(pictures of completed prints). I have spent hundreds of hours designing, printing, redesigning, reprinting to get to this point. Should I get download credit for each model in the bundle? I don't give flying rat's <> about rewards or badges. I bundle them because it is the right thing to do. No, It is not a bundle of buttons.😉
I guess I should have typed " Why not? 😉 🙃 😉 🙃 ". My bad.
@diem
From what you showed of your project, it looks awesome. I hope you do post it.
