Do MK3.5, 3.9 and 4.0 have these i3MK3S+ LCD issues resolved?
Hello, one main problem I have with the i3MK3S+ is that a lot of the time when I used the dial to choose something, the next option got selected by the machine by mistake. For example, I chose a file to print, the next one got selected instead. During loading of filament, I chose color not correct but the middle option of filament not extruded was selected by mistake automatically.
Another issue is that although I could use Octoprint, when printing files from the SD card, some information are not available to be displayed on the screen of a remote computer. For example, I cannot tell the current layer and print speed remotely without physically going to the room where the printer is located and check the LCD screen.
Given that the 3.5, 3.9 and 4.0 have a new LCD screen and a xBuddy board, do they also have these issues?
RE:
The issue with the wrong item being selected by the menu, might be because the rotary encoder of the LCD board is very sensitive and when you click the button, if you don’t press exactly on the center of the wheel, the encoder rotates a little bit scrolling up or down to the next item of the menu before the push button activates the selection, I don’t know if I make myself clear,.
That problem happened to me relatively often in the past. Nowadays I always press very carefully the button on the center, to be sure that the selected item hasn’t scrolled one line. Even so, occasionally I still get the issue. Let’s hope that the new electronics and LCD of the MK4 series are less prone to playing tricks.
Recently I installed a Rpi on my MK3S+ and I agree with you, Octoprint is very fussy. If you start a print from the SD, there’s no info on the layer being printed or a image on the remote computer of the actual movements of the printhead, because Octoprint can’t slice the file if the printing is already active.
On my other printer ( not a Prusa ) I have Mainsail running on Klipper and it’s clearly better than Octoprint in many aspects
