Dangers of low-cost Print Dryers (Sunly S2 -> DigitMakers)
Purchased a Sunlu S2 Print Dryer from DigitMakers in Canada about 7 months ago. Unit comes with a 1 year warranty. But for all of you that purchase online, you may find, depending on your vendor, that your warranty is irrelevant. My unit failed because of a hardware failure with its temperature sensor, and Sunlu requested a video of the failure. But after the video was sent, Sunlu offered no reply. The Sunlu S2 is potentially not a bad product. It could benefit greatly by a high-quality (but inexpensive) ball-bearing fan to move air which will remove moisture and make the temperature more uniform. There is a humidy sensor in the unit which never displays anything but the room humidity so it has no use. The only offer of customer service from DigitMakers (in Canada) was to return it to their shop but I'd have to pay 2 way shipping. This would be more than the cost of the unit; and why DigitMakers offered that option.. because I'm not sure they could get the controller board out without destroying the case. It looks glued in. If I, in face, returned the unit .. likely they'd just give a replacement.
So be warned.. low cost filament dryers that you can't physically return to a shop will likely have zero warranty.
