With such basic functionality missing, and any questions regarding the administration of it falling on deaf ears, It’s really not a surprise that this forum is so scarcely used.

Prusa is pretty active now over on Discord. Just step lightly around the fan boys and the memes

Discord and Reddit, I only use when theres absolutely no alternative.

And even if it does not achieve anything else, getting a dose of Discord will make you value this forum more. 😉

It's a weird place. There are users (I assume they are teens) that only post animated images. Reminds me of DJ's on the radio with background sound effects.

But I like my anime gifs to post along side my messages 🙂

SMALL update.

Been talking to webdevs and such about possible options where the forum goes, just bouncing ideas around, but I have submitted all the feedback from here and other posts about the forums and currently weighing in which option is the best to take at this point.

Unfortunately no ETA, but I wanted to drop a line to know its not forgotten.

Now that the Prusa World Map is working, I've noticed that the locations must be pulling from servers, as they bear no relationship to actual location. Mine is over 400 miles off! It would be nice if they were closer.

Related to that, I've now seen a couple people who couldn't resolve problems and had to send their printer back for service. It would be great if there were a way to see if anybody was closer, to get some local help if desired. I don't know if that's practical. I also don't know what percentage of users are on the World Map, as I have to believe there are far more Core Ones around me than the map shows.

The locations were generalized when the page opened as some places were spot on for peoples locations based off of zipcodes.

For local repairs, that would be something on the "user" end. If we (Prusa) posted a repair shop, we would need to verify that place and ensure that they were qualified to carry out repairs in the same manner that we would. Repair shops could add their locations to the map, but it would fall under "at your own risk" type of thing.

I'm thinking something much more informal than "repair shops", just user-to-user assistance when a second pair of eyes could help. Most of the forums I frequent will have a user entered location for posts, which can be fairly specific, or completely general, whichever the user prefers.

I recall when I first setup my profile on the Prusa World Map I was able to select my location. It is still where I chose. In an effort not to self-dox myself (I'm a hobbyist, not a business) I put my pin at a public park near where I live. I did look and I don't see PrintedSolid as a pin, neither at their old location nor at their new location.

Honestly, Im still on the fence on that. Recently, we had to remove the option of posting "for sale" posts due to users getting scammed, my concern is that the same thing could possibly happen the same. Perhaps if there was a disclaimer created to warn both parties of possible problems or something similar?

RE: Current update on the forum, March 5th 2026

I just joined this forum. Every post I’ve made says “Awaiting moderation” below it, and appears to be invisible to other users. I also can’t seem to send messages to other users yet.

While I understand and appreciate such measures to prevent the impact of bots and people spamming messages using new accounts, it would have been nice to have some kind of instructions about these initial limitations, or an indication how long it takes until you become a regular user.

As it is, it’s a little discouraging to engage with this forum again if I don’t know when I may actually be able to interact at all. Perhaps an explanation could be made easily visible somewhere? Sorry if it already is and I just missed it, by the way.

Cheers, whoever can eventually read this!

Yes, it's a rather heavy-handed approach to moderation for new users. Makes it frustrating for other participants of a thread as well: A new user posts a request for help, replies get posted, guesswork at underlying troubleshooting causes continues -- and then, half a day later, a post from the OP pops up halfway up the page which provides more background.

The good news is that the review is only in place for the first 5 (?) posts by a new users. But I think the approach could be changed to "posts appear immediately, and get reviewed (and edited or deleted if necessary) afterwards."

If you want to post spam links or other undesired content, just add them to you signature a few days after posting. No limitations or reviews on those... 😏

Requires 24/7 moderation or these posts get missed with (as far as I know) Joan and Shayne being the only moderators and in almost the same timezone.

Well, it's basically a tradeoff whether you want to have all new users' posts delayed, or run the risk of having some undesirable content online for a few hours. Posts would not be missed entirely; they would be placed on a "to be reviewed" list as they are now.

It's the admins' decision of course. If the developers of the forum software play along, some middle ground could be established: Publish new users' posts immediately, but hide them as soon as they get reported once. In either case, put them on the "to be reviewed" list for final blessing by the moderators.

Yes Joan and I are somewhat in the same time zones, but I primarily never sleep and I am on the forums at different times.

The current approval system is not ideal, I understand that. Before it was implemented it was 101 spam posts daily and honestly, still the case, just with that awaiting approval bit put in place, the majority of them are caught before they are made visible.

I can also understand from a regular new user experience the frustrations dealing with that as well. It's in my notes of things to update and improve on the forums.

PS. There is no Y in my name :p

update on the update....

So from the issues we were having last week with the forums and the changes implemented before the long holiday weekend (over in the EU) appear to fix things. One silver lining is that the outage  pushed some other things forward.

There has been some progress, but I don't want to say the exact things because things could change from one plan to another and I want to give the correct information and not some possibilities and set peoples expectations incorrectly, but I will say that things look promising.

If things go into a more stable / concrete option, I will update people with more info, take all the other suggestion into consideration to some changes and also make a few other annoucements / updates to the community rules when / if the changes for the forums go into effect.

I don't mean to be mysterious, or vague, but I do want to let the community know that the forums hasn't been forgotten about and the work still continues 🙂

Looks like a good and useful update for the community.I especially liked the idea of message tracking - it will really help solve problems faster. It's also cool that the forum is not standing still and is gradually updated, even if it takes time. The new section about filament sounds very appropriate, I think it will be useful to many. The idea of marking resolved topics is also logical, but perhaps it is worth leaving the opportunity for clarification. In general, it is clear that work is underway and there is a desire to improve the platform 👍

Yes, it looks a little strange — the map seems to be there, but it's not much use if the locations are inaccurate. I think you're right that the data is taken from servers or an approximate definition, which is why there's such an error. The idea of finding people nearby sounds really cool, especially when you need an ambulance without sending a printer to the service. But, apparently, not all users add themselves to the map or turn it on at all. Perhaps it's also a matter of privacy settings — not everyone wants to show the exact location. It would be good if they made the option "show approximately, but closer to reality" and a filter for active users nearby. Then the map would really become a useful tool, and not just an interesting feature.
